All east and north east of here today. We had some rain, but it was more like a period of steady rain not a thundery squally shower. Very dissapointing week given the potential. Same old, same old.

Troughs always arrive here too early as well. They are usually gone by midday or early afternoon yet always arrive at the magic time for the SE!

Here will make up for it eventually and I shall then be laughing. Mwahhhhaahaha!

Ar man, hope no one got hurt. sad.png

Indeed, doing a search on Twitter, it does come up with the news of the explosion.

Scary really. Just hoping that all it was, was a very loud rumble from a thunderstorm or something, although then again, you had mentioned it was thunder.

(currently almost clear blue skies here).

CONFIRMED: Massive Bang across South Midlands was a SONIC BOOM from scrambled Jets due to a False Security Alert.

Thanks for clearing that up. Was worried it might have been a bomb or something.

Now a heavyish shower falling here.

Did n't hear the Sonic boom, family did though here in Rugby. Also had a rumble of thunder half hour ago with a very heavy shower.

That's hail past 3 days and thunder past 2 days in this area.

Looking out the window, there's seems to be frog outside at the moment. Feeling jaw-droppingly cool, as well, with the temperature around freezing, probably thanks to the froggy conditions. Don't think fog was predicted here, though hopefully the frog will start leaving as soon as the sun comes out (though, clearly, sometimes froggy conditions can persist all day). But considering sunshine and showers are predicted, the frog will probably leave quite early.

Although no sparks or bangs (apart from the sonic kind) over the past 3 days.

We really were treated to some spectacular sky scape's, including last nights skies which are some of the best I have ever seen.

Not to disappointed, as sure as eggs, Our time will come,,,,,,now how does that laugh go again...Mwahhhhaahaha! laugh.pnglaugh.png

Does anyone think the showers in south Wales will reach here?  On the radar, they look as though they are drifting northeast.

Seem to be very slow moving. Do have my doubts about them reaching here, otherwise those one from the North moving in a South-Easterly direction may invade the Midlands, although they may just miss us to the East.

Weather guide blog for the week ahead:

http://forum.netweather.tv/blog/309/entry-4386-weather-guide-sunday-15th-to-saturday-21st-april-west-wales-and-central-midlands-specific/

Missed the worst of the showers here in Rugby this week, a paltry 3mm since Monday's rain and plenty of pleasant, if rather cool Spring sunshine.

Doubt this area will escape this coming week!

While it`s a bit quite.. and a chance to empty my hard drive in anticipation of the coming week

Just a couple of new time-lapse videos

First is last week cells coming down from the Cheshire Gap creating quite a few anvils over the area....Unfortunatly blocking out most of the Sun and seemingly cooling down the area enough to prevent any spheric activity

The second is Wednedays sunset with the addition of a few planes. a longish video but i think it works well

The Icelandic ATD Map after storms in the South West now really highlight how here was one of the very few in the Southern half of England not to see any Thunderstorms this week. Shockingly bad luck especially when Lightning has been observed in all places around here. Really disappointing as here usually does see something.

Still, some chance this week but it looks quite a weak and transient affair and with winds from the west, it usually means nothing for here however on Wednesday winds may be from the North or even North East which could place the West Midlands in a good spot. The other day when winds were from the NW, meant things just about missed here.

Wind direction makes no difference really, home grown convection (unlike snow) definitely thunder/lightning hail chances anywhere from tuesday onwards really

Certainly dont want to say nothing will happen but the majority of time in a Westerly flow, its we breed them, the East enjoys.

However Wednesdays wind direction may be of much more use.
