A cool 17C at Shoreham but it must be a localised seabreeze right on the coast, because it's 21/22C here, still nice and warm in the sun.

Shoreham has been up to 22C today & is currently 20C. The sea breezes seem to only be affecting stations right on the coast/seafront as even here around a mile inland it has been considerably warmer than the Solent & Thorney Island weather stations.

Pretty similar to the last few days here with a max of 19.1C. The highest temperature this month remains just 21.1C.

It was also pretty cool last night aswell with a min of 8.6C.

Still, not a cloud in the sky and pleasant at 17.9C.

Not sure that Cromdale figure will verify given it's ~3c higher than Aviemore

Currently, highest May temp for Scotland is 29.0c in Edinburgh in 1992. Kinlochewe hit 28.7c in Friday.

The East Highlands are a very under studied area of Scotland in terms of meteorology, Strathspey in particular. I've read in quite a few places that the lack of weather stations has meant that such extreme temperatures are often missed, including in winter when -30'C has been claimed in the past. When you think of it, Monadh Liath to Cairngorm and Strathspey is a huge area of land with only a handful of weather stations.

A max of 18.2c here and there were times when it felt chilly if exposed to the breeze and in the shade. Really hoping that we see something warmer tomorrow as the end of the current warm spell is drawing near sad.png .

The day's high at Lerwick is still only 17c, far below the all time record, strange thing to state that it was going to get close to it given it was 6c below.

Strange thing to state its high today is 'only' 17c (7c above average for May) when it hasn't been reporting a temperature since 8:00 AM (when it was at 17c) on the official Metoffice website.

Very nice, rab...

I wonder if the temperatures progged on County File tomorrow (C. 24C) might be a tad low. Could any locality that receives nearly wall-to-wall sunshine perhaps get to around 28C?

Strange indeed! Oh well let's see if the record came back otherwise a record breaker may have been missed.

The wind has fell calm here and it feels roasting hot in the late evening sun, 25.3c atm. Took the dogs out and I had to find some shade for a while out of the blazing sun.

The official reading for Cromdale was 29.0c which ties the May record.

(29.9c was on the unofficial Davis)

Best day of the warm spell so far - a light offshore breeze rather than a strong one today, and so it felt hot in the brilliant sunshine. Spent a wonderful afternoon relaxing by the coast.

Another fantastic day, high of 24.7c but felt a lot hotter in that strong sunshine

a shame this has to come to an end but this is England so no surprise

I see Publius Enigma is back posting on the MOD thread telling us that the Greenie high is here to stay and its gonna be cold and grey blah blah blah and there's a chance of some grass frosts etc, dear me he is tedious zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Yes sadly it will come to an end. Do ignore the likes of PE who are just trolling and only appear when a more negative outlook arises.

Only just started reporting again, 13.7c at 21:00...must be a lovely evening for the locals up there to enjoy an outside beer, don't often get the chance I suspect.

With it being at 17c at 8AM it is extremely likely 20c has been breached. Whilst, not an all time record, Wikipedia reference's 20.7c as being the May record, I suspect that may have fallen today but with the lack of available data, under extreme caution.

Had this been in July it's perfectly acceptable to assume 23.4c would have been breached.
