My attention is turning to tomorrow as the focus of the warmth is set to shift eastwards with GFS showing 25c over Northern England. The max shown for today is a mere 23c for the south coast and western Scotland...

Parts of the south coast are already at 25C & western Scotland is widely 24C-26C.

Temperature had a brief fluctuation but is now on the rise again.

26.1C, the warmest it's been today.

24.5c here so a degree up on yesterdays max so far.

Seeking a little shade for a while now as taken far too much radiation whilst out working in the garden. Perfect air temperature but can't stay in direct sunlight for too long!

24C here in Glasgow so we could be in for a third day at 25C+ this month. Disapointed with the model output showing a return to northern blocking, I just hope we don't get the same nonsense as in previous weeks and hopefully get a good number of warm, sunny days this summer. I suppose from a winter perspective, it's good to see that northern blocking is still prominent but we don't want at this time of year, it could really spoil our summer, cause a weird messed up autumn and a mild, wet, dark winter.

The potential for thunderstorms will increase in the coming days, it will still be warm in the south for another two days. Really a wonderful spell of summer weather that may end just before summer begins. St Bees Head is up at 26C so another warm day in the NW. Is there a website or something where you can find records for weather stations as some local records could be broken today, particular in Baltasound.

Lerwick is currently 17c and will almost certainly reach 20c today. That's very close to the all time record for that station (23.4c July 1991)

Well not really that close, 3 to 6c short of it more like..

A Met Office climate station at Cromdale has recorded 29.3C.. which will be a record for Scotland if confirmed by the Met Office.

High cloud here now and the temperature has dropped to 19.1C which feels very cool compared to earlier!

Another glorious start and warm, and with less of a breeze than recently so very pleasant indeed, but it has clouded over in the past 30 minutes, much cooler.

Cromdale broke one of the many new March records here in Scotland so I would imagine if 29.3C is the correct maximum then Scotland may well have a new May record. Quite a Spring for breaking records up here, it's always nice when records are broken.

25.8C now, so a maximum just over 26C was recorded. Was hoping for it to be a little warmer, but you can't have everything! Feels hot anyway, but the breeze is back.

A cool 17C at Shoreham but it must be a localised seabreeze right on the coast, because it's 21/22C here, still nice and warm in the sun.

That would be a remarkable temperature considering the previous record for Scotland would be 26.2 (2010)

Car says 28c and one of my temp sensors in the garden is reading 30.2c with the other one showing 45.4c in direct sunlight. either way it feels more like being abroad than in West Cumbria lol

It's evident now that the cap is been quickly eroded away as moisture is being pumped into the atmosphere, promoting cloud formation.

Won't be long now until places start to see some intense thunderstorms IMO, just hope we in the NW can squeeze one more day of clear skies out of this hot spell, to make it a full seven days of unbroken sunshine. Amazing indeed.

The day's high at Lerwick is still only 17c, far below the all time record, strange thing to state that it was going to get close to it given it was 6c below.

I don't understand how Scotland manages to always do well from warm spells in May, almost reaching 30C, yet in summer they don't do as well.
