Lol, 9-13C as a max in May?

You'd have to have continuous heavy rain, or a foggy day to achieve that. I'm sure you love squeezing the worst out of every model output mate.

Also, the Met Office's Twitter account is ran by people who do not look at models, they're just ordinary people which only have information of the Met Office's website, I.E the 5 day computer generated forecasts.

Thirdly, a look at the UKMO medium term outlook will suggest a warm & sunny jubilee weekend.

25.8C max here, so a little cooler than yesterday.

Felt much hotter in Anglesey, felt well over 30C at times, car thermo read 27.5C at times, 29C on the beach.

We had a max of 9C here just 6 days ago without any fog or rain, obviously the chance of single-figure maxima reduces rapidly now we're almost into June, but there were widespread single figure maxes on the late May Bank Holiday weekend as recently as 2007.

If the setup were to evolve as the GFS and ECM suggest with a slack, cloudy north-easterly with 850hPa temps close or slightly below zero, coastal areas bordering the North Sea could well achieve it. It would be next to impossible if any sun broke through though.

Indeed.

There was a run of single figure maxes at the start of the month despite at times there been sunny weather.

Well a Met Office's tweets suggest's a cool down yes but nothing to the extreme your going to

https://twitter.com/#!/metoffice

Extreme in the sense that it will feel very different.

A max of 26.c on Tuesday followed by a max of just 16.c on Thursday, a good 10.c temperature difference.

Under the cloud is likely to mean two layers instead of one.

I had a max of 7.9C on the 19th this month with only 2.8mm of rain and no sun.

In fact the temperature did not exceed 13C here until the 8th.

Yes, but at this time of month, the odds of achieving a single figure max away from the East coast is very high.

This May has been exceptional though, and those colder uppers ensured cool maximas for the time of year earlier this month.

16.1c here after a minimum of 13.8c overnight. Light easterly wind and feeling very warm already, temps set to reach 25/26c here this afternoon and with lighter winds it's going to feel warmer than yesterday. Probably the last of the very high temps as we see cool down into the new week.

Edit: 19.0c now (8.10am) :)

Elsewhere high teens to around 20C/21C except in the north east & south west, both under cloud/mist with temperatures only around 14C/15C.

Highest so far has been 24.8C at St Bees Head, 24.0C at Benbecula & 23.6C at Heathrow

Yesterday still managed 25.0C here with the channel having less of a cooling effect than forecast or I thought it might, a ESE or E breeze was felt nice with the temps and strong sunshine.

This morning we have some sunny intervals and mid-level cloud, and it is also cooler than many areas but still feels quite warm/pleasant out there. 19.2C currently, dew point 14.2C, more humid than yesterday but less than the 20C dew points the previous 2 days!

We're at 24.0C and it's not even midday. Move aside 28.2C on Thursday, you're about to get well and truly smashed.

Just past the midday point, and the heating is really starting to get going. We're at 24.5C now, and with that wind decreasing fast, it's turning into the hottest day of the year so far, feels more like 30C right now.

What, you've got the heating on? Lol.

Feels really hot here as well, hotter than yesterday because of the lighter winds. Not sure what the temp is as my thermometer is in the sun at this time of the day and I can't think of a way to shade it. Can anyone help?

It was 22c at crosby an hour ago.

My attention is turning to tomorrow as the focus of the warmth is set to shift eastwards with GFS showing 25c over Northern England. The max shown for today is a mere 23c for the south coast and western Scotland so areas that up till now havent seen anything special could be set for a very warm day tomorrow.

Currently 17.8c here
