A very different day here compared to yesterday. We're stuck under stubborn cloud with only hazy sunshine.

The temperature is currently 15.8C with a quite a brisk north-easterly breeze.

Its just hit 21.5oC here in sunny St.albans, It was a slow start and the sun has only been out for an hour or so but the temperatures are shooting up! Not a cloud in the sky and I just got a UV of 7 on my monitor!

Brisk Northeasterly wind scuppering temperatures here on the NE coast only 14.7°C. At least we have wall to wall sunshine and no low cloud or haar to contend with, but looking on the visible satellite there's some beginning to form out in the North Sea heading in a North Westerly direction towards North Northumberland.

A bit cooler in Cleadon than yesterday, pegged back at 16.1C so far, and I can indeed see a few small patches of low cloud out in the North Sea on the satellite images- clear and sunny for now though.

23.5c here, 25C seems very possible, maybe a bit higher?

The temperatures in Scotland now, and this year in general have been totally ridiculous - 26C at Aviemore?!!!?!?!!?!

A very welcome 24.7'c currently (and rising.) Bearable for lazying around in the midday sun for around a hour before the temp becomes too overwhelming and just had a good hour in the garden watching MAN inbounds just above the DP layer.

They create their own foehn effect, and really attract the sun, wouldn't surprise me if Aviemore took a 28C'er today, it's 25.5C already, that easterly wind is helping the highlands to have some unreal temperatures.

18C here with hazy sun. Breeze off the sea just tempering the heat alitlle but only a few miles inland getting into the 20's again.

Aviemore now at around 26C.

The low cloud burnt away here in Hull an hour ago to leave clear blue skies and a gentle breeze. Feeling pleasant at 19c.

26.4C at Aviemore. A special place all year round and with all weather but you can't beat May for lying on a beach, 1000ft high beside a fresh water loch with anciet caledonian pine forests, Britain's highest mountain plateau covered in snow and baking in 26C heat.

Here in Glasgow it's 23C and sunny. A warm breeze is present and walking around the town brings back memories of walking in Malaga! lol.

Just about perfect, perhaps a little too hot for tennis but anything with sunshine and a bit of heat at this time of year is superb. Quite a warm-up from this morning, and I expect the temperature to rise until 6pm, leaving a nice warm evening. Perhaps Aviemore might get even warmer, perhaps not too far from breaking another record.....

The May heat records for the UK are:

UK - Max (32.8C), Min (18.9C) - 14:00 - Aviemore (26.1C)

England - Max (32.8C), Min (18.9C) - 14:00 - Heathrow (25.0C)

Scotland - Max (29.0C), Min (17.4C) - Aviemore (26.1C)

Wales - Max (29.2C), Min (18.6C) - Sennybridge (21.6C)

Northern Ireland - Max (28.0C), Min (15.2C) - Magilligan (19.2C)

Nearest to any record is Aviemore at 26.1C, 3C off the Scottish record. Probably unlikely to be broken today or even this week.

Those figures do sound hot for Leeds in May Aaron, scorching dewpoints for the north.

Southern Northern England usually sees the same temperatures as the Midlands/Southern England.

Perhaps due to urban heat Island or Fohan, for example Greater Manchester and Leeds/Bradford are showing 16/17.c values the same as the far south. Only London is higher presumably due to UHE.

It's only really North of Yorkshire that has has the stereotypical 'its grim up north' weather.

Seems the dew point has just taken a leap (13c now almost 16c) with temps leveling off at about 24c. The sky is slightly more hazy too. A sticky night ahead I think!

21.9C with unbroken sunshine after an overcast start to the day.

Doesn't feel that warm either thanks to an annoying breeze.

27'C in Altnaharra - I'd imagine that some areas around Achnashellach down towards Drumnadrochit must be scorching at the moment. A cool 25'C in Western Inverness.

Definitely. Back up to 26C here - caught the sun again today, hoping a nice tan develops. :)

We've reached a max of 17.2C today with the cloud burning away in the early afternoon but a keen north-easterly keeping it cooler than inland.

Currently 16.6C and 81% humidity, so pretty pleasant.
