The High Based Nature of this cluster of storms would tie in with the WAA Regime across the Western parts of the UK, As AJ Is noting lots of Intra Cloud Lightning and High Based Rumbles denoting Elevated and NOT Surface based Thunderstorm development is ongoing at present.

It is later this afternoon when something more Surface Based could fire and Mature across Lincs & Humber, East Midlands areas and this is the area that needs watching closely, backed Surface winds off the coast in these areas as Brick has denoted will become favourable for Spin Ups or even just offshore Waterspout development.

So I guess we're expecting further developments behind this big storm?

I surely have a chance of seeing more lightning today than I saw in the whole of Tour 1 on last years storm chase lol.

Wow Brum cam has gone so dark now http://brumcam.co.uk/

WellI dont care Iif I miss all the action today - great to see a plume after the (personaly) depressing June we've had with two months atleast left of summer, breaking the cycle of heat over France/Cold and wet here!

That's actually the Bablake School weather station cam:

Coventry does look in the firing line in the next hour, however I have never seen lightning on that cam.

Interesting goings on in South Wales. Two new cells down there with sferics, indicating that behind the main band there is still potential to pep up, and lots more convection going on over the valleys west of cardiff. If something else brews like it did early morning still a chance for a second round for the west west mids?

Unlike the majority I'm not going to enjoy this , really hope this goes through very quickly

Just outside watching the inflow to a storm passing to the North and I am starting to think a tornado is definately possible today. Low level cloud is zipping along into the storm which means there is plenty of low level horrizontal vorticity. Storm is still a little elevated but if it back builds things could get interesting.

Some good insolation going on here which should help something to develop later

There is an incredibly intense thunderstorm just west of Burton upon Trent, continuous thunder now for 15 minutes, no break at all, never heard anything like this, must be only 4-5 miles from my location, no rain here, but very dark, the radar shows the storms intensity.

According to the MetOffice London will hit 28-29*C today, currently at 24*C at 10am. With the temperature range showing that 30*C is not out of the question, I take it the trough is going through now with the cold front behind it.

I wouldn't say that it's very exciting for storm development here just now to be honest. Just grey/misty and not particulairy warm but breezy. I guess though we are in different circumstances or something? and weather like we got just now doesn't matter?
