I can confirm we have had our first few spots of rain and also thunder again but this time it was much closer rather than distant rumblings. Gets closer each time...

anyone else in west yorks or south yorks gone very dark??? Its that really quiet sound too outside when you sense something happening.

Halifax is bright and the sky is milky overcast, it's misty as well. Still quite humid but I think I've lost hope now of anything major happening. Edited by Hodr

Rain has largely stopped here but thunder still rumbling away as the system passes largely to the west and north of me. Radar indicating that the storm area has decreased the further north and east it has progressed. Am now watching the cell that is raidly developing behind this one

Thinking of heading out about 10 miles or so east of Nottingham.

Looking like the most severe part of the next storm is heading just east again.

It's slowly increasing in size.

11:50 The weather is so bad in Mansfield, with lightning striking, that the torchbearers have temporarily gone back into the convoy for their own safety.

Man that storm system is close, come on, nudge east a bit!

Looks like I'm about to catch its tail end anyway but the big area out in the sea would be better.

That was pretty disappointing, just one rumble of thunder then a bit of moderate rain. It looks like that cell to the south-west is dying and might just miss us aswell.

21C with the sun finally shining through the mist. 95% humidity according to my weather station! The radar Looks promising with lots of storms firing up. That one going into North Yorkshire has a chance of hitting Newcastle if it builds westwards.

More storms pushing up from midlands and pushing up to Yorkshire. Maybe thats why its dark here. Heres hoping.

Definitely more coming, the stuff to the SW of me is building and bubbling. Shame I'm at work again in 20 minutes.
