No doubt the front has moved through now, what only 30 mins ago was distant thunder and clouds has been replaced with Blue skies and visible TCu's to the East. Feels like the Great Plains with a dry-line moving on through blum.gif

2009, 2010 and 2011 were quite thundery here in the NE. Looks like I'm paying for that now - I heard one rumble of thunder 5 minutes ago but now the shower is dying already!

It is not hard to see why Tornadoes have been reported with these Supercells, when you have favourable conditions and Temp / Dewp spreads of 68/64 in Nottingham and 68/66 in Leicester you can see why. These storms must be almost dragging the ground.

Furhter south a Stout Cap with Explosive conditions if the Cap Breaks also noted with 77/68 at Stanstead, 79/66 at Southend on Sea and numerous other stations reporting very explosive conditions.

Will it be broken ? Probably not

Will the Cold Front fire later...............God knows!

It should be reaching you now, but you'll probably just get drizzly rain as the heavier thundery stuff is further north on that band.

The cold front should be passing over Western UK by tea time, so the next few hours really and it'll have crossed. Looking much drier to the west now after these current cells move away E/NE.

Forked lightning observed from the cell that is to the NNW of me as it passes away, and almost continuous rumbles of thunder. No rain though but very muggy and almost dead calm

Nice big peels of thunder rolling around the fells, but come on Mother Nature I want some serious house shaking, ear splitting thunder that used to wake me up when I was a nipper!

I take it that the southern extent of these storms was where the 700mb lift ends and doesnt remove the cap enough adaiabaticaly - sods law it was 10 miles from me in cirencester and we could hear the thunder !

Good god... Hurricane in the North Sea! rofl.gif

Let's hope the cold front approaching will cause some big sparks over the next few hours, what's the chances? Still very muggy here @ 19.7c.

Fair bit of action over Ireland near the cold front, many strikes being picked up.

Well the surface CF is already through the SW Midlands, so I doubt you will see anything as I keep saying.

Lucky you Liam the only thunder was north of me in Durham I have no idea who the eastern side was under a watch and we haven't hardly had anything? Is the NE likely to see the storms later in the day or something?

Imrpessive reports from the Midlands area like bet that looked like a firework display!
