My windows are filthy after the showers from today. It's like dry salt and sand. Sadly that's the most interesting thing I have to report from today's weather. lazy.gif

Aunt reports 'golf ball hail' from north Coventry! Asked if my uncle would collect and freeze some! They are in their 80's!

Still Snoresville in this part of the world

Lol you couldn't make it up could you. In a plethora of other locations there's talk of supercells, multicells, tornadoes, frequent lightning etc etc.....here I haven't even had a shower.

Can anyone say if I should stop hoping now?

IMO for your part of the country, yes unfortunately.

What a treat, just been in the garden looking south towards a incoming anvilhead, complete with mammatus, TCu cells developing around it, and almost constant thunder.

That's terrible news I hope there's no more casualties or deaths but I'm sure a fair amount of damage and suffering has been caused. That's a major downside to days like these but it is almost inevitable with weather as severe as some people had today.

I think that's where I'm going to head now, to hopefully get near the most severe part of the next storm.

WOW amazing radar return near Leicester now, intensified massively in last 5 mins. I guess that could mean big hail.

I'm off out east don't want to miss that!

That shower/thunderstorm west of darlington appears to be back building - this may be Newcastle's lucky break in a couple of hours if this system moves north an continues to build.

Cumbria is being swamped by storms by the looks of it, whilst further storms are brewing in the Midlands.

EDIT: heavy convective rain here now, out of nowhere.

Its the same here, cars are covered.

Apparently its dust from the sahara. Seems about right considering where this airmass has come from.

Almost off the radar scale that, same one that gave large hail in my Aunt's garden half hour back.

Started as constant thunder, then the wind really picked up, all of a sudden this sized hail was coming down!!

That was the biggest hail id ever seen, one piece on the lawn next door looked bigger than that, but seemed to be kind of oblong in shape instead of round.

Very intense rain for a few mins too. Not much in the way of thunder though.
