Crikey, downgrade from very poor to awful! What a dreadful outlook for the rest of the week. This summer is turning out every bit as bad as 2007.

My wife and I are due to fly out of Gatwick Wednesday at 5.30pm. She is a nervous flyer anyway so how bad do you think it will be?

(Of course I am completely oblivious to thunder, lightning, high wind, heavy rain, storms, doom, gloom etc when flying). Not.

It might be a bit bumpy going up if there's convection but i wouldnt worry - planes can cope with that!

Thanks for that. It's not the going up she is worried about!

Seriously though there could/will be some bad flooding in certain areas in the next few days if just about any more rain falls and it is forecast to do just that. You have to feel for those affected and also the shop retailers/tourist businesses who have no trade. It's all beyond a joke now.

i was up in W Yorks this weekend. Never seen it so lush ( and soggy). All the rivers are in winter spate. Each rain event now will bring levels up and up, the hills are so saturated, it just runs straight off.

Word of warning, anyone using weatheronline..It has a lovely virus that trys to get in your computer!

Is that generally or recently? My work computer had a couple of spyware items on it, when I ran a virus checker this morning.mad.gif

MT8_London_ens.png

if i were doing a forecast at present

i would say same as we have got used to to the 22nd sad.png

however i do expect the jet to shift north of us around the 22nd

this will start increasing temperatures to say 25 degrees on the 25th

possibly near 30 by 30th

i then expect a proper plume which will give us some proper storms

right at the end of the month.

however the bad news is i expect the jet to go south of us again very early august

please note these are only my thoughts

i do expect the jet to do this though

PPVE89.gif?31415

tuesday heavy rain pm

PPVI89.gif?31415

wednesday some sunshine and heavy thunderstorms being triggered off throughout the day

PPVK89.gif?31415

thursday changed again

dry to mid afternoon then heavy showers

PPVM89.gif?31415

very heavy rain and persistant a blustery wind as well--flooding a real issue now

PPVO89.gif?31415

saturday looks similar to wednesday sunshine and thunderstorm potential

temperatures mid teens in rain poss high teens in any sunshine

hi biggin

i posted the warning last night as the main problem i can see is the

volume of rain before this event

the fax chart has kept this for 2 nights now

there is a possibility it may shift the low around between

now and then but really needs a close eye on it.

would prefer this moved away somewhere else to be honest

an idea of rainfall from gfs

not sure how much rain totals are there but to me it looks a problem if these

charts are correct

Morning all.

The gathering daylight shows it's mostly cloudy, but a bit of blue sky here and dry. There's a half moon too.wink.png

Convection chances dropping off slightly for us according to GFS:

Maybe something at the weekend.

I see there's lightning in Lincolnshire AGAIN! I'm sure I read a post a few days ago, on one of the forums saying that Lincs isn't favoured.rofl.gif

If I was Keraunophile, I'd start radar watching now too...
