Just had quite heavy rain with lots of rumbles of thunder . . moved off towards downham market now so it was the 3rd blob that gave thunder and lightening for us

Thunder becoming more frequent from a cell with its core just to my NW.

I'm thinking I might have the worst recent record of the regular posters here.

I saw one very distant flash last week, so far off I couldn't hear thunder.dry.png

Even in Barbados, although I had a half hour extremely heavy downpour, this was without thunder. The only thunder I heard was very distant and from one storm.

Other than that nothing since about April!ohmy.png

Don't like to say this, but Norwich is about to get hit hard...

Excuse me while I scream very loudly..........AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Glad its not here (just put kid to bed)...but clouds to the NE - Bedford area look immense!

Although concerned about the new lot of showers over Wales coming this way...

Indeed - I'm a few miles south of Norwich and have a good view to the North through French windows right by my computer. Have enjoyed vigorous IC and some CG strikes; at times the thunder was near-continuous, with stair-rod rain. We're now under the second cell - weaker with some IC lightning. Third cell on NW radar seems to be weakening slightly. Oh, and it looks as if Newmarket's in the firing line.

yes, the second cell only gave a couple of rumbles, the one behind that also looks like heavy rain only. Lovely skies though!

I wouldn't write your chances off yet. There is stuff not too far upwind of you. Definitely no promises, but stay hopeful.smile.png

I've only just logged-in - I presume you're not in Norwich?

No Chris, in Ipswich 2.5 days a week working. Typical they have a storm whilst I'm in Ipswich.

Yeah, just had a look, Steve and we may get summat later on. And as you say, never give up hoping. :)

absolutely lashing it down here - has been for 10 minutes, as it was about an hour ago. the last 2 hours probably has somewhere between 10-15mms with only about half n hour of rain! just got heavier still. its loud enough that even though im watching tv (breaking bad) i can hear the rain louder! radar shows more showers to the west of us as well, maybe another 5 mms in store by the looks of the radar

that lot coming out of wales could cause some fun and games

also that lot up north is starting to head south

reckon tomorrow will be a bit wet

image_b_uk.png

clapping.gif to all who got storms today

i still think tomorrow afternoon is showing some promise

northerly flow bringing some unstable air

adding some heat during the day would be very helpful

I agree. I think places further southeast will be more favoured tomorrow. The CAPE charts etc. always favoured the north of our region today.

You're absolutely right. I'm going to make sure I get out and enjoy it. drinks.gif

Storms will be back later on. It's not even August, which is often, imho, the best time!good.gif

I always think that August is good for those storms that wake you up early morning. I've known a few in my time. Ah well, all is not lost. Congrats to those who got storms anyway. :) And those of us who didn't .......the best is yet to come. :D

G'night each. *yawn*
