Ditto, especially on Sunday.drinks.gif

Had to listen to 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight' on BBC Essex on the way to work too.mad.gif Were the presenters going on about that story! I only have it on for travel bulletins too.sad.png

What a way to start the (admittedly short) working week.ohmy.png

I've got a stressful day today, running a payroll, which is a lot more complicated than normal this month.

Still it's a lovely sunny day at the moment.cool.png and I've booked 3 days off work early next week.biggrin.png Mind you if the forecast changes (currently it's looking good then) I'll be cancelling it.

I'm fairly optimistic though - I've seen a forecast saying 28C for the middle of next week.cool.png That'd be very nice.

Wet Wednesday....

Yellow Warning of Rain for London & South East England :

Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes, Greater London, Slough, West Berkshire, Windsor and Maidenhead, Wokingham, Bracknell Forest, Kent, Reading, Surrey, Hampshire, Southampton, West Sussex, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth, East Sussex & Medway

Yellow Warning of Rain for East of England :

Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Norfolk, Bedford, Suffolk, Central Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Luton, Essex, Thurrock & Southend-on-Sea

Issued at: 1401 on Tue 28 Aug 2012

Valid from: 0005 on Wed 29 Aug 2012

Valid to: 2100 on Wed 29 Aug 2012

A band of heavy rain will move eastwards across many parts of the UK on Wednesday, reaching western parts by the small hours. The heavy rain will continue east, clearing south eastern areas by early Wednesday evening. The rain is likely to be accompanied by gusty winds. This will be followed by scattered heavy showers giving some locally thundery downpours. The public should be aware of the risk of localised surface water flooding which could lead to disruption to travel. The main risk of this is particularly associated with the heavy showers later in the morning and during the afternoon.

They look like Cirrus (or mares tails) and you know what they say about mare's tails....

mackerel scales and mare’s tails, make lofty ships carry low sails

Thanks MK. Yes, I just looked them up. They were absolutely gorgeous but you can NEVER capture them so well in photos. I guess it means wind then. :)

Check this out for a lightning display. Was in Costa Blanca, August 2009.

Thats incredible! Reminds me of when I was sailing between Nassau and Andros in the Bahamas a huge storm blew up with constant anvil crawlers, I couldnt hear much thunder from it even though it was overhead.

I will have to dig up the footage.

That wind is a bit on the chilly side tonight.

Although that video is incredibly spectacular, I prefer the storms where the lightning is less frequent and more spontaneous, also you can't beat a bit of CRASH, BANG, WALLOP!

I've just been on an early morning walk. Definitely a 'red sky in the morning' type.

I've seen there's now a Tropical Storm Kirk, which (or its remnants ) looks like being in the NE Atlantic, by about Tuesday. Hopefully it'll pass to our NW and not spoil the nice weather being predicted for our area.unsure.png

Edit, I've just checked GFS, which has it passing harmlessly to our NW, on the flank of the big high.drinks.gif
