Back from Wicksteed Park in Kettering and got soaked in a deluge. I must have been the only the big black cloud in this region as everyone else I've spoken to here in Stevenage and further south in Enfield say they've had lovely weather.

We had that heavy shower here about 4pm - Hope you had a nice day at Wicksteed Park, did you go on the waterchute ?

Just had a heavy shower in Ippy and afterwards the sky was stunning, but photos never do it full justice.

I suppose grey hair might go white.wink.png If that's what you'd like.laugh.png

Glad you're having hot weather, even if maybe too hot.biggrin.png

Grey hair?! How very dare you Steve. Actually not far from the truth..... I think the Spanish lemons must be duff as they mostly stick my hair together in clumps, make my eyes sting and leave the hair colour unchanged. If they were proper lemons I would by now be bleached blond and 23 again. Ah well, I live and age in hope.

Have been reading about the Spanish civil war (I'm a cheery git) and the part the weather played was remarkable. Anyway, prob not for this thread.

Hope you all have a good long weekend

We did thank you. No not the waterchute, but did the rollercoaster and the pirate ship amongst other things. It's a lovely place. :)

Yellow Alert of Rain for East of England :

Yellow Alert of Rain for London & South East England :

Bracknell Forest, Brighton and Hove, Buckinghamshire, East Sussex, Greater London, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Kent, Medway, Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire, Portsmouth, Reading, Slough, Southampton, Surrey, West Berkshire, West Sussex, Windsor and Maidenhead & Wokingham

Spells of heavy rain and thundery showers have the potential to cause disruption during Saturday. The public should be aware of the risk of surface water flooding, with strong to gale force winds an additional hazard for southern counties.

...typical bank holiday weekend weather then angel.gif

Thanks, yes she's off to college in September good.gif

Have a nice time in Brighton.....I'm going to a wedding in MK on Saturday....

...seeing the forecast I'm pleased it's one of those one stop places for the wedding and reception, I don't think they will be having any photos in the grounds though which is a shame as it's quite a nice venue !

Nooo! It can't do that on Saturday. It's not allowed. I'm driving to Lincolnshire to pick up my brand new puppy. I want a sunny morning. boohoo.

And well done to mini MK for her results. You must be so proud of her.

Buenos noches amigos. Last bulletin from the wild and high lands of the Sierra de Grazalema. Not so stiflingly hot today, the air lighter and the sky a clear blue unimpeded by ochre dust from the Sahara. Final meal of iberico ham, cheese, avocado salad and bread, washed down with large amounts of red rioja. Hic. Well done mk to your daughter. We got some results today for our eldest who was doing some parts of various exams this year before the main parts next year. The anxious wait for the text message paid off, but it was a nervous few hours.

Seen 2 shooting stars tonight, and can also now see the milky way. At least, I can when the phone is turned off. On which note... hasta luego.

Exactly like that John!

Still looking for Mars and hoping to spot a galaxy. Funny how some celestial bodies have lent themselves to brands of chocolate, but others have strangely remained unexploited. A chunk of Uranus anyone?!

..and there was me thinking they named the stars after the chocolate bars unknw.gif

Milky Way - is a translation from the Latin "Via Lactea" which is derived from the Greek word "Kiklios Galaxios" which means milky circle.

There is a Greek myth for the origin of the Milky Way, that is that the baby Heracles is brought by Zeus to Hera to drink her milk so he could become immortal and the Milky Way is nothing more than spilt milk.
