Should be the last of any meaningful rainfall today, with the foreseeable outlook becoming predominantly dry & mild, cooling of but staying rather dry in week 2.

Currently piddling down, really looking forward to something much drier. Lets have a few weeks of dry then snowmeggedon can come. Keeps everyone happy then.

Daytime darkness and near horizontal rain. Exciting weather to say the least but glad to see a brighter day in prospect for tomorrow. Temperature also now on the fall. Was 10.4C 2 hours ago and now 8.9C.

The heavier rain has arrived now. It's been rough for a good 14 or 15 hours now!

I'm hoping for a decent fall of rain today to break a record, may as well go out with a bang.

October was the wettest month here with 195mm i'm currently at 179.6mm for December - maybe it's possible? :)

Happy new year guys & gals!

GOOD.

I am sick to death of all this sodding rain.

I moved house four months ago (to the north of the M4, in the hopes of getting some snowsearch.gif ) and the back garden is nothing but a quagmire (due to the previous short-term owner). It is compacted clay and has been sodden and un-draining since the day we moved in. I love gardening and would really like to be able to make a start on it, but it is impossible.cray.gif Meanwhile, the neighbourhood cats are using it for a toilet (I thought they didn't like getting their paws wet?) Sodding things.

AND......whilst I am having a right old moan, with all the building work going on here, we are constantly tramping mud, cement and other assorted detritus into the house, despite our best efforts. Plus having to dry the washing indoors. Moan, moan, moan.

Seriously though, I know that peoples' homes and businesses have been devastated by the floods and my heart really does go out to them.........they are in my thoughts, for what it is worth.

To fellow weather watchers I wish everyone and their loved ones a happy, healthy and prosperous 2013.drinks.gif

Lots of love

Noggin

XXXXXXXXX

Grumpy old thing I am today.

I get the impression from the radar that it will clear through quicker than the model predict?

Do agree the back edge looks none too far away. Waiting for the developing squall line to come through which looks to be around the Bridport area.Drop us a post when it passes Wareham please.

I don't think it'll amount to much here, it's breaking up slightly.

It certainly goes against what the BBC graphics showed yesterday.

V gusty winds but not much heavier rain here, it's gone through now and looking a bit brighter. Just as well as local roads don't need anymore rain!

Squall line still appears strong over north dorset / wilts, but has all but fallen apart down here near the coast.

Nothing here on the back edge, fizzled out like a dodgy firework. ohmy.png

Certainly nothing like was forecasted .. the words yesterday '20 to 40mm' on South today.

Rain was really heavy up until around 2pmish. The road going down into Wincanton (past Holbrook house) was like a brown river, the water was just pouring off the fields. The moat around the house is back, hopefully the last time for a long time now.

Happy new year to you all. Lets all hope for a better year weather-wise. I'm personally hoping for a long hot sunny summer, seem rarer than snowy winters these last few years.

Happy New Year guys & girls.

Currently 4.6c here with sunny skies.

Fairly quiet, settled & mild weather for the foreseeable now, but the 2nd half of January continues to be interesting for something more seasonal.
