I can backup that rockfall and landslide warning, as i went for a walk along the coast yesterday

In several areas, i saw evidence of landslip on the cliff faces

People must be very careful walking close to cliff edges

Oh good grief, we won't have anywhere near that much rain before new year and most bands/showers look like passing through relatively quickly. I'd expect maybe a couple inches in some places not 7 inches! if we had that I'd recorded a record smashing 325mm this month! But then this is the daily fail we're talking about rolleyes.gif

light rain here now but this looks like passing through pretty soon here maybe only giving a 1-2mm, barely enough to make the river twitch.

Very windy today too, feeling rather cosy with my new PVC window :lol:

157mm for the month, ninth month in a row of above avergae rainfall. 2012 stands at 1333.8mm

Torrential rain, hail and gusty winds here in Yatton at the moment. Also gone very dark. Wouldn't be surprised to hear thunder.

Aside from further rainfall, some very windy weather is likely towards the end of the week;

With the ground extremely saturated currently, it wouldn't take much of a wind to uproot trees etc so one to watch.

Continuing forecasts of a major warming in the stratosphere soon too;

Which I think will make for very volatile model output over the next couple of weeks, so I wouldn't think too much of any FI output, whether it shows mild or cold, as this is going to be a difficult time for medium & long range NWP output.

Don't expect any tropospheric influence before mid January anyway, more of the same for the foreseeable yet.

Hope you all had a good Christmas and lets hope for a good new year.

Wow the thunder here this morning was amazing! Woke me up with a jump and terrified the poor cat! The claps of thunder were so long but not really rolling thunder. A good start to the day!

Just had that heavy band pass over us - so was woken once again to the sound of heavy patter on the window. Soothing but can't help thinking about what this doing to some with lots of flooding. :(

Woken this morning at 6am to the sound of thunder, was fortunate then to watch the rest of the active front go through with torrential rain, hail and more classic thunder. Nice

Hope everyone is having a good week despite the conditions! I can't believe some of you have had 2 thundery mornings!

We had a heck of a hailstorm between 07.30-08.00 which settled in some surfaces but was then quickly washed away by

yet more rain!
