Merry Christmas to you all. Woken up this morning not by the kids but by lightening (no thunder) and a massive hail storm. The wind was fierce. Keep safe all those traveling today.

We had a very close lightning strike here early this morning - I have never heard thunder on Christmas day so I thank Thor for his gift :)

Watching the hail deluge at 02:30, could feel the temperature fall. What a cracker of a downpour everything went white briefly. A white Christmas (of a different type)

I must of slept through the hail about that time. It woke me up here at about 6.55 this morning. With a couple of cracks of lightening mixed in.

Rivers of hail when i was walking home this morning, 6 or 7 rumbles of thunder and about 5 flashes of lightning. A very nice surprise!

That's quite a bit. Great site by the way, I also just noticed your yearly accumulation is just 0.6mm more than what my Davis VP2 thinks ours is here.

Had nice sunny spell with temps around 13c,Drizzle now and breezy, Tentative indications in models of some pattern change around start January, Just hope move away from this constent wet pattern, Fed up of moaning about the rain, need something new to moan about,

Temperature 8.1c here with overcast skies & the odd brief sunny spell.

Looks like another crop of showers could form over Cornwall later and spread through Devon, Somerset & Dorset on a trough ahead of tomorrow's front!

Umbrella's at the ready, lets hope it's active as some of the earlier showers from today, they packed a punch

Hail ?? my god that was more marbles being thrown at my window at god knows what time in the middle of the night, although I had to be reliably informed by one of the guests staying over as I was out for the count, this was later confirmed by my Father in Law later this morning.

Would be interesting to hear from anyone else close to Brighton, as both our guest and the future father in law both were of the opinion that the hail was marble sized

I got an umbrella for Christmas. This MUST mean we are due some non-wet weather now?! Wishful thinking.

Merry Christmas all x

After the last very wet spell before this one, I bought some new wellies.....that didn't work, did it? sorry.gif Jolly glad of them over the last ten days though! BTW, it's piddling down again right now, but I don't need to go out.

indeed ph34r.png take care if your going out on a Boxing Day walk along the coast !

Landslide and rockfall warning for south-west England

_64939380_64939374.jpg

A rare landslide and rockfall warning has been issued for south-west England by the British Geological Survey (BGS).

The BGS has concerns about the stability of cliff edges and cliff sides because of the quantity and intensity of the recent heavy rain.

It is worried about people going for Boxing Day walks, and is advising extra caution near cliff edges.
