A lot colder here now clear and currently 1c so there will maybe a frost this evening to dry up the mud round the bonfire.

Happy New Year to everyone on Netweather and particularly the Scottish thread.

Just back from walking the dog down by the river. Not that cold at 5c but the wind is a bit bracing. nice sunset through the cloud out to the west. Best have a wee warmer now to get in the mood.

Enjoy your evenings!👆

Looks to be quite a huge cloud on the western horizon as the skies get dark. I wonder if that's a distant thundercloud or something. Too dark to take a pic though sadly

A wee bit of everything this December will be my memory of the month.

I've seen snow, sleet, hail, rain, torrential rain, flooding, storms, about 14 nights of frost,a couple of ice days and a few mild days too.All in all probably a pretty good month if your interested in the weather.

It looks as though we may well see a good second half to January.I think we will soon see things taking shape in the models.

Anyway, all the very best to all on here....may the New Year bring us all good health and good fortune.Cheers.

Pelting down at Drummochter. How low will the snow level get later?

Not expecting anything over here but might see some snow if I make it up to the folks in Highland Perthshire tomorrow.

EDit. sorry link seems to be blocked.

Just had a heavy sleet shower pass through, so you never know... a surprise or 2 in store.

No surprises here - dry & cold.

853mm rain this year, I'd guess (much) less than most of the UK.

Grass sparkling and very starry even the hint of an aurora a few hours ago. Just making up my wish list for the farm for the new year and I hope the potential cold in mid January deepens and lasts to mid March after which we have a mildish not too wet spring to get the crops off to good start and a flaming June to fill the grain and help the garden recover.
