I've just read Gibby's summary in the model analysis thread. If one short sentence summarises it, it's 'colder but uncertain.' That'll do me for the moment.good.gif

A perfect summary and as good as it gets at this point!

Wow one mild run and winter is over! I love the rollercoaster ride, 6pm the model thread will be a nice place again! Shiny happy people!

Is it a defence mechanism? Think the worst so anything that does show as cold thereafter is an even bigger bonus?

Usual greyness here and rain to come later on this eve....joy

Have a great day and you watch it will be cold after today and will get colder still as for snow who knows when but it will come! :)

Can we have some sun over this way, awaiting updates from Coast on the 06Z rather than entering the model thread.

Sensible it is not pretty in there. Lots of toys being thrown around.

It's not stunning but it keeps reappearing and is a nice trend if it continues!

To my amateur eye FI on GFS 6 looks pretty tasty for us down here. Would love to be able to post charts but not clever enough!

Why do they (MOD thread) have to focus on what we don't know namely next week. When you have a well respected forecaster namely Ian Fergusson using words like "Shannon entropy" and "dichotomy" why as mere mortals do we try and torture ourselves over what is going to happen? Basically they haven't got a clue which way it is going to go.

From my limited understanding they mean that there are too many variables that is a very brief summary of what those words mean but if anyone wishes to expand and explain better I will not be offended.

Ok its the GFS that needs the prozac! Looks cold now! Why would it happen like that? Do the models not cope well with cold?

Yep, I think the key word here is 'disorder' (and I don't just mean posters in the MOD thread!!)

Do the models not cope well with cold?

No, a lot of MOD contributors don't cope well with the rollercoaster.......

A weak and watery looking sun is desperately poking its head through the clouds, looks so pale this time of year!

Another bargain: my husband's just noticed heating oil's gone down another tick… get your orders in as they'll be sky high again in a couple of weeks.

Same thing occured for my sister. As I've banged on about before, my sister was told (in a roundabout way) to look out for milder spells in Winter as the oil companies will put the prices down temporarily, whilst at the first sign of anything colder, up will go the prices, sometimes significantly.

The above is another good reason to keep in touch with the weather forecasts. good.gif
