Also I have a feeling this situation could show us under cold air and the south west under warm air.

All we need would be an undercut situation. :-)wishful thinking that

More later

New modified UKMO-GM for Sunday just issued has wintry showers into eastern / E Anglia / E Central England etc., (no disruptive amounts anticipated) but MR folk keen to stress major uncertainties into entire weekend in certain respects - unsurprisingly. Meanwhile, for Saturday at least, heavy rain / showers in SW and environs, with hail/thunder likely.

Any snow and/or bitterly cold weather can wait till I'm back in The Swich. :) My house is a veritable freezer. I have to dress like I'm off up Everest. :o

Like so...

Good evening, just about recovered from yesterday's ballooning antics. Was up at 4:30am and didn't get to sleep until 11pm, and having 2hrs sleep previous night probably didn't help. Anyway we arrived at Icicle Balloon Meet and was greeted by thick fog, unfortunately it only slightly lifted from time to time which allowed some balloons to hop along the field, I flew in the Panasonic Battery, here are a few pictures...

I'm pleased to say they didn't! Anyway a colder outlook is a distinct possibility for past the end of the week, how cold is still undecided, but colder than late I think is almost certain, if we get any white stuff all depends on how this weather system moves off into the continent Saturday overnight, some may get some snow on the wrap around and northern flank. Anyway at least it will feel more wintery!

i want to believe gfs

must not get sucked in

we would potentially be buried with that

Pub run appears to be on the leftover Christmas shandy!

With regards to this chart John, some on mod thread seem to think that the southern portion of the country would have sleety rain...surely not??

Very hard not to get sucked in :-)

If (and it's a big if usually for us) the GFS verified beyond day 10 then all those desperately scanning the models for a few flakes of snow that probably won't settle from a rain to snow event would feel a bit silly a week later when they can't leave their houses let alone find their cars due to the amount of snow :-)

Having said that it is in 10 days time we are expecting to start feeling the full effects of the famed SSW I believe and the background signals all look good, we just need luck but maybe just maybe not as much luck as normal.

saturdays fax

this is messy and still quite good

the 528 dam air to our east

the low coming through will start as rain

the track is important as we could see some back edge wintry stuff later on on sunday morning

high to our west should block the atlantic

winds variable

now tomorrow we want to see the colder air to our east move further west

will feel cold around 5 degrees

getting more interestingdrinks.gif

Well, having spent far too long on the model thread, it looks like we could be on the cusp of something really special...........or the models will have completely flipped back tomorrow and we'll be continuing mild. Best soap opera ever, keeps me tuning in anyway!!! tease.gif

Evening John, does Saturday's fax closely follow the UKMO 12z for the same time?
