nothing here, I've even put the security lighting on to double check !

Ditto, in fact something even more bizarre has just happened the Lampost outside my window has just bloody turned off! I've have to venture outside to walk the dog in a bit so will report back my findings ( may give the lampost as swift kick to see if I can inspire any signs of life :D)

question ,i have a new weather station, how accurate is tendancy,as mine says snow?

Sounds like you got one for Xmas too! Still getting used to mine but I assume the tendancy is gathered from the temp, RH and DP so all it means is conditions are good for snow at this point. Doesn't mean it's going to snow (unfortunately)

Parts of the West midlands are reporting snow, so it's clear where the heavier PPN is in the band, and therefore, where it is actually falling.

If you turn the "weather type" off on the radar you can see theres a thicker band of precip just over there now.

Well don't know but my hubby works for H A and has been told he has to be in from 0000/ 0700. This covers Bedford sandy Cambridge Huntingdon Stevenage Milton Keynes. This happens when they are on winter maintenance 2 ( ie snow desk ) I will say be cautious at this stage as this has happened before and been downgraded.

It seems that the reports seem to be mainly north from Birmingham still. So we could be in for a longer wait than originally thought

This is known as anaprop.

Therefore anyone south of here who was looking forward to some exciting lamppost watching should lower their expectations!

It would seem so......

ANAPROP - ANomAlous PROPagation - when radar microwaves are refraction by things like inversions down to the ground, and are then reflected back to the dish - as far as the radar is concerned, something is there, and so it displays it as a return, but it is not precipitation!

Latest from the Beds Borough Council

Dry and cold, with sunny spells Sunday afternoon. Clear skies late-afternoon into the evening and overnight period, will allow road surface temperatures to fall quite sharply to below freezing, leading to frost and ice forming. However, a band of sleet and snow will be moving in from the north west during the early hours of Monday morning. The sleet and snow turning more patchy as the morning progresses, before a secondary feature moves in from the west by midday, which will bring a mixture of rain, sleet and wet snow. Evening update - No significant change to forecast - but reduced snow amounts (0-1cm) and extended timing by an hour (from 0300 to 0400).

Therefore not expecting too much in the morning.

I would advise watching the lamp-post instead even if nothing were falling..... biggrin.png

Or we could learn about weather forecasting with Mr Blobby....

Ipswich and Colchester should be experiencing a flake? Or is it the buzz word of the moment "anaprop" ;-)
