Been snowing in Weston for a while, not heavy but snow none the less and nice to see.

Recently has I check it regularly

Does it mean there's a last minute upgrade for tonight?

Who knows?

Yeah, I've seen them tweets from Matt and the EC ensembles. Don't think the cold is going anywhere fast so its just a case of finding some decent PPN that's proving difficult.

Maybe it is one of those weeks for late upgrades.

Oops.

Posted in the wrong thread..

Anyway,

That Heavy PPN to the rear of the front seems to be turning to rain.

Its still under -4 850's though.

Rain today does that quite regularly, have to wait another 15mins :( Try the met office radar dec10snow! :)

And they've done it again... Can precipitation fizzle out that quickly? :p;)

I'm out do can't look at charts but it looks like everything is ahead of schedule so perhaps the rise in WBFL is also ahead of schedule, turning the PPN to sleet and rain out west.

Well their main snow was from a front tomorrow I believe? (the weak occluded one over us now, is the one moving into France on this FAX chart for tomorrow 12pm i think)

More likely to be rain for most of the SW tomorrow though. Still...a now-cast kind of job really. Eastern England from London northwards favored.

You mean one person in the northwest thred has said that , that means nothing for those further east to be honest, a lot of people saying in Manchester and other areas that its the heaviest snow it's been all night m so I think it's game on, looking at the radar there's developments again, also the nae and bbc forecasts it to pep up from 9 onwards

What temp and dew point is required for it to snow as opposed to sleet/rain please?

Dew point needs to stay below 0c.

Forecasted and actually happening is very often very different. according to the met I'm supposed to be having heavy snow now, I'm lucky to see the occasional bit of dandruff lol

Not sure whether that band currently over Brecon/Abergavenny will reach us intact. I have my doubts but it may produce a little more light snow.

Still the lightest snow falling here, so has been snowing for 1hr 45m and now kids trampoline has a light coating, as well as car roofs & my shed!

Temp 1.2 (No idea of d.p.)

21.35 - just about stopped. Literally just the odd sporadic flake now

It does seem strange. I'm only 13 miles east from you and being forecast heavy snow. Maybe because you're in a town?

Maybe, but I don't see how that would mean I don't get any sort of precipitation, while all around me does?? :S

Take a look at the map:

I know, I was wondering if PPN can fizzle out that quickly? ;):p
