going to take a brave leap and not watch threads or weather news tonight....just head for an early night and hopefully??? get a surprise not a disappointment in the morning.

a good hour of sleet and +1 temps washed my snow away.

it just looks damp outside now.

BBC forecast just showed the wrap around and it looks like it will hit where I am which should see a few more cm of snow with any luck :)

It's all starting to look a bit marginal at the moment, -4 uppers flirting with the south east at present so lets hope that

if we do get a decent wrap-around there are no warm sectors involved. currently +2 here.

Fortunately by midnight those are back to -6 to -7 (though under the shallow system we've had over us, even -4c 850mb temps would probably have been sufficient)

Only potential marginality will be dew points:

But then when you look at the flow:

Sourced from the near continent, that should help to combat any marginality

So it really looks to be a question of just how much precipitation arrives to our north!

Yes, potentially a couple more cms overnight, but nothing is set in stone at the moment.

Ahh I get it now, so it's a low all down the east coast thats causing it? I only managed to glimpse a few graphics today and thought it was going to come from a small low pressure centre - whats actually there must be much more elongated.

Ok the band that went through the UK today was from a low just North of Scotland, as that low weakens a new circulation has started as a new low has formed around Middlesborough, that new low starts to pull the rain/snow band over the top of the circulation and down the otherside, it is a tight circulation and this new circulation will slip SE during the night.

Hope this helps

Just running the radar quickly through the last hour, the wrap around is VERY clear. Precipitation around the Hull area now becoming alot more southerly tracking. Around Durham the precipitation is heading directly south. Band seems to be heading west much slower over our part of the world. Shame the heaviest has passed though!

Temperature is -0.4C here now....nice covering of snow here, but nothing of any depth
