Have got moderate snow in Nantwich, white over now and still falling! With all this pepping up from nowhere I don't think tomorrow will be as much of a non event as thought! Especially when the northwest tonight forecast has just said that greater Manchester south should still expect 10-15 cms, let's hope!

Probably a lot higher than many of the models or TV broadcasts would have you believe! Amazed at rate this ppn has been developing over the last few hours, show me a 12z model that has forecast this at the same level of intensity? It's nearly as significant in it's own right! I'd say eventually it'll merge with the main band and become even heavier!

It is amazing how much the precipitation has expanded over the spine of England!

Some places may catch some moderate spells of snow from now till around midnight!

Seems like an upgrade from the doom & gloom of this morning........bbc weather showed snow from the midlands being blown up towards the Manchester region on very strong winds, so it might not be a total disaster.

Temp up slightly to 1.1 with fine grauple mostly melting and just slight slushy deposit on some surfaces. Fingers crossed for the cold air to headbutt its way further west.

you need colder dew point

Just seen that mate, what's your thoughts for us?

All I can say is, I've been around long enough to have experienced these situations before where the main band pushes further north than those TV forecasts suggest.

If I had to bet either way, I'd go with the heavy stuff hitting us. :)

Yes it was quite promising really. We might come into play later on tomorrow as the band of snow get's pushed towards us on strong south easterly winds. Saturday could even offer a few flakes. Might not be a write off after all.

Dare I say it, Dianne appeared a bit more perky today. She didn't have such a grave expression of impending doom on her face. I'm not sure if that's a good sign or not lol

Well done to the NAE for picking up the current PPN over many parts of the region 48 hours ago, when the other models were having none of it, and Ian F stated that they thought the NAE was wrong with PPN for today.

The GFS had the possibility of snow today most of the week.

indeed it did

im not really that impressed with this snow, it's not particularly that heavy, and it's barely sticking, i needs to become heavier...otherwise we'll end up with silly little white strips..
