Still fairly light but steady snow in Stoke. The thing that's puzzled me this morning has been the temperatures. They seem to have been up & down quite a lot. Sometimes above freezing, others below. Clearly seen by snow sliding off parked cars & then icicles appearing as it started to freeze again. Really strange. Anyhoo around 5 inches of level snow & not much drifting as the wind has been a bit lighter in my particular area.

Yep same thing has happened here. Thought it was a bit odd!

It is also Jan the 18th and two weeks away is a life time in Meteorology.

For sure that's right. We've hardly got going with winter yet ...

2 weeks takes us just about to Candlemass (2 Feb). For farmers up here, that's midwinter. You are supposed to have half your winter feed for your stock still left.

Its really fine but its coming down fast, the flakes are not very big but this is the best ive had all day, LOL, just shows how desparate i am to celebrate fine snow, looks like it will stop going by the radar in a minute but should only be a brief stoppage and should start again.

I think people in the east of the region may get a surprise soon, the precipitation east of the Pennines is trenching over and filling in the gaps! This is quite impressive!
