Certainly won't be making headway into Lincs/Yorks! Track is likely Wales/West Midlands and then fragmenting while moving NW - perhaps affecting Northwest England with some light and patchy snow come dawn.

Yes Met Office boobed so far on this one lets hope the boob will get bigger and pushes right up too Yorkshire. As I said on the London thread Louise Lear said it would stay to south and west of london. Blasted past that.

I was thinking that a few hours ago when i first saw it but the METO seem to be dropping more snow upgrades for the region with a direction change

to an Easterly and i'm struggling to work out what they can see that i cant.

Gone quiet here suddenly are you all in the pub?

Snow and sleet reached Leicester now lets see if it gets to Nottingham.

Last couple of Radar runs seem to suggest the Eastern flank struggling IMO with a pretty clear Western pivot - hope I'm wrong.

Yes, won't see much more northern movement, a westerly pivot and steady decay now. I might be more excited if I lived in mid-Wales, but certainly nothing of any significance in this for Yorkshire.

Still moving northward and very little sign of any decay. Not over yet folks.

Can't believe the steady rise in temps & dewpoints around the region YET parts of the south and west are in whiteout conditions. So much for a ( biting ) northeasterly wind ?

I know what you mean, here on the coast the wind has east/northeast wind has felt cold but has actually kept temperatures above freezing every night from Friday (last night being the exception). Our temperatures shot up here today too by around 3 degrees in an hour today which has had a negative impact on our snow cover. I would love to experience a Feb91 type easterly where huge amounts aof convection snow showers were developed over the north sea. Hopefully Feb this year will deliver, at least the metoffice further outlook supports cold around end of Jan-mid Feb.

Not really a big thaw here as such. Temperature has risen a little in the last few hours though, now up to 1.0c.

The temperatures forecast for tonight at anywhere between -3c and -8c look woefully wide of the mark however! cc_confused.gif

The Met continue to update their temperature forecast to keep them in line with what is actually happening. I bet they'll remove the forecast of -1C now, like they did a few nights ago when it only fell just below freezing.

Yes, unexpected. Currently have my highest temp since last Wednesday at 0.0C ! Bit disappointing, was hoping to record an ice week !!!

Yah, you're misreading it old boy.

nope not at all. The first section is now approaching Nottingham then a gap and another one approaching after that. It may just pass Sheffield to the west which is my only concern. Anyway off to specsavers for you.

The whole track is NW- it will miss Sheffield by a country mile. Wait and see, buffoon.

EDIT - Also, the "first section" is not only extremely light and fragmenting each time it attempts to move further North, but also reported as Phantom by many NW members currently under "it".
