Radar showing heavy blob up here in stevenage but not a flake or drop?! Must be an anoprop or not hitting the surface?

radar has been a waste of time tonight, shame as it was great for the last few snow events.

If anyone saw the vintage Tonight programme on Saturday about winter '62/63, what was almost more interesting than the snow and ice was the BBC in those days… its presenters rattled off a detailed script, explained a series of charts as though it was self-evidently clear what they showed, and spoke really fast.

They make the ones on the BBC today sound like remedial teachers — whether it's them who are a bit thick, or whether they think their audience is a bit thick is open to conjecture.

Temperature was on the rise not too long ago, though fortunately the DP remained below 0C. Temperature now on its way down again and so is the DP with decreasing humidity. Current temperature 1.7C, DP -1C.

I've just had a text to say it's snowing in Leighton Buzzard...and at the same time my rain alarm went off !!

Temp. 1.2 °C & DP 0.4 °C here so I'm guessing if it gets here it won't be rain good.gif

If this band (Tail end) out of NE France progresses north before heading west, I wouldn`t be surprised at a little flicker here and I must add, NW local forecast does state at 9pm this may happen.

Following this radar of choice tonight http://www.meteorada.../home/maps?bg=0

Bit far over here and although I did feel a little something coming down just now, I could see nothing in the lamposts and am thinking it was just rain. There was a few flakes about 30 mins ago, but you could have counted them on one hand lol

Interesting on the radar that the overlay shows an area of -6 850hpa from Luton through Bedford and towards Northampton, simialr small area around Chelmsford, notice that there is more pink on the radar now

Nothing falling here, was under a green blob too.

No I think a lot of it is evaporating before it get's to ground level, if you higher up maybe you would get a flake or two

Either that or the snow shield has come out of hibernation.

On sunday the BBC were talking about this batch of snow coming up towards and over London. the fact it's ended up in Wales is perhaps an indication that there's more strength to the cold block in the east then the models are portraying
