astonished, by this post. Gfs 12z is only 24hrs,given.showing solid agree, for up to 4/8hrs of snow for london as a whole.thats without met, latest forecasts going solid on same wavelength.london could do fantastic out of the dreaded atlantic over coming 24/38.hrs.with being east with cold holding firmer longer......!!!!!????.

The 12z gfs shows rain for all our region with perhaps 30 seconds front edge snow.

The nae is the one showing snow for us (some of us)

Unfortunately 'tight isobar' some will do everything in their power to lead people to think snow chances are off for tomorrow!

Meto/BBC/warnings/twitter/some models all pointing to snowfall London North tomorrow starting from 9pm :-)

Of course it could all go t**ts up tomorrow but of course - it might not!

Let's not all forget how bad the GFS performed during this cold spell ppn wise and how spot on the NAE was... Yeah we have all forgotten that haven't we!!

I think a few people should read Ian Ferguson's post on the previous page, downplaying 'meaningful' snow in the se.

He said - less amounts

Hardly downplaying!

What? 2cm instead of 5cm - I'll take that

From what Ian Fergusson said, we could see those BBC forecasts change. And remember if a model shows u on or near the line of snow / rain, then u gotta take all forecasts with a pinch of salt because no model can predict that line to the mile

And if you read the quote they are talking about tweaking the warnings,

Tweaking the warnings for good or bad?

Exactly we don't know!

Anyway Ian F is a great guy but his predictions and "inside info" for my area have been pretty inaccurate during this cold spell.

And I also find his quotes do not even match Meto predictions!

Stop hating and just be happy that the north of the region might get some snow before the rain arrives

Everyone's acting as if Ian F has said "no snow"

He said "less amounts"

Just found this from Ian Fergusson on South West thread

"Incidentally we're not using raw 12z NAE for current forecast outcome Fri eve re snow etc. We've leaned instead to less meaningful amounts towards S'ern areas generally (E Anglia an exception) progged through GM and MOGREPS-R and will await further NAE output tonight before seeing any further tweaks/re-grading of current UK warnings."

PAH !!!, one day he will come on here and suprise us with a massive upgrade for the SE and the rain for the North for a change. 20cm for London .LOL

Was always gonna be tight south of London

Why are people so surprised

It will look even worse tomorrow

Experience in these set ups says rain all day long

Don't get too excited

Lol hate? It's called realism.

BBC - Snow setting in over Essex at 9pm tomorrow!

Meto - warning of 2-5cm

NAE - heavy snow (best performing model this winter)

Essex weather twitter - up to 5cm

Weather pros on twitter - still looking good for snow London Northwards

Yellow warning includes london as well..However, hourly forecasts for london are rain and then sleet before it all becomes rain. That clearly shows little belief from the Metoffice's standpoint that it will snow in london..Isn't that a bit contradictory? Uncertainty and again uncertainty

Those of you getting a bit heated, please step back and relax for a bit - there's really no need to be arguing with one another over whether or not it'll snow!

Ok thanks- Maybe a regular weather follower or someone with a bit more nowse-

I was reading from here IIRC this person gets the MOGREPS data ( unlikely )- has this person confirmed that yet as they are not that widely available-

Milder, wetter weather to melt snow....

Parts of Britain will see further heavy snowfall on Friday before milder, wet and windy conditions bring a thaw

Warnings are in place for ice, snow and rain. Keep up to date with your local weather warnings

Forecaster Anthony explains the change in weather in our video..
