I'm liking the 4th Feb idea for a return to cold - last year my son woke up on his birthday and thought we'd made it snow as a birthday present. He's been asking if it'll snow again for his birthday for a couple of weeks now so these synoptics are good! Obviously a huge degree of uncertainty this far out but I like the idea of being super weather mum if it snows on his birthday again :D

I dont think there can be any dissagree, that the MILDER air will win out. However, from the capital north and eastward there is sure to be snow accumulating for some hours....with disruption.added that the front lands here, after nightfall...

Those of you getting a bit heated, please step back and relax for a bit - there's really no need to be arguing with one another over whether or not it'll snow!

Yes there is lol, can't wait to see Dexter's moans when he gets cold rain tomorrow eveningdrinks.gif

Theres a lot of uncertaintly also because of the track - IE the shortwave drops further south then a lot more people within this region will be effected...-

Im off all weekend so happy to watch it all unfold- but know it will be a non event round here....

For me I'm not fussed either way about tomorrow night as even if it does snow it'll be gone Saturday so won't be able to enjoy it. I would rather get the milder weather in and look to the next cold spell.

Looks like Fergie and the METO are siding against the NAE then. GFS will be close to the mark I think. With the snowline Suffolk North. Southwards a wintry mess?

Perhaps a shift north of the yellow zone on the METO warnings to come by morning?

Getting bored of this cloudy cold sleety bore anyway!

Bring on a reload. Please...

I don't moan... If it rains it rains - nothing I can do about it!

I would love to know where your info is coming from for me to see cold rain in Essex?

Did anyone just see Peter Gibbs forecast on BBC1 just now?

Heavy snow for London Northwards from 9pm... COME ON!

Good - last time they done that as 'Vince Coombes' confirms, the NAE were spot on and they were wrong!

Ok thanks- Maybe a regular weather follower or someone with a bit more nowse-

I was reading from here IIRC this person gets the MOGREPS data ( unlikely )- has this person confirmed that yet as they are not that widely available-

S

Steve essexweather is on Netweather and answered how he gets the MOGREPS data.

London is under the current warning from the Meto.

2-5cm of snow.

TV forecasts continue to suggest that London and areas north will see heavy snow!

Small factoid heard on the radio today:

67% of land on Earth has never had snowfall, perhaps we ought to consider ourselves privileged!

Having checked netweather, bbc, met office, weather outlook and metcheck I have a met office warning of london snow but rain in their forecast everyone else's along with an hour or 2 of sleet, which is a shame as it totals 14mm of rain.

That would have been a lot of snow at one go for here.

everyone banging on about some possible snow which may or may not happen. even if it does, it won't last more than a few hours before it gets washed away. what we should be more concerned with (apart from the heavy rain) is the wind forecast from these low pressure systems. especially monday and tuesday -

As there seems to be quite a lot of disagreement re. poss. snow event tomorrow, would some nice member of our region like to host

a little competition, perhaps along the lines of:

1) Southern extent of falling snow in region

2) Southern extent of settling snow in region

3) Greatest depth of snow in region before melting, or not as the case maybe!

Not me though thanks, I'm all competitioned out! Suggest some other criteria if you like! Would be a little difficult to judge of course though.

Cheers,

Tom
