You will be asked about other interests/hobbies. They will be fascinated & interested with your meteorological knowledge. This will show them you know how to have fun outside of work which is a big plus hi.gif

It's gonna rain rain rain. Which is good. Gets rid of all the ice and frozen snow. Time to warm up, then get ready for the next big freeze. I would like to say a big thanks to Coast, JP and Steve Murr for their great input. Cheers guys.

Yes all the best John, if they ask you about your hobbies/interests and when you tell them meteorology and then, out of interest, they ask what has caused this spell of wintry weather. Dont make the mistake I do, with my colleagues and start spouting SSWs, high latitude blocking, bifurcated jet-streams, madden julian oscilations, polar vortexes, lake-effect snows, Thames streamers, Kent clippers,Essex clippers, disrupted troughs, triple points, shortwaves, longwaves.........very quickly their eyes will glaze over and in no time they'll be snoring, fun though isnt it!

Good luck mate,

Tom.

Morning all!

Certainly looks like a spell of rain coming up, a return to more average temps for the time of year then an ickle indication on the London Free-atmosphere meteogram that it could get colder from next Friday.....

I guess it must be some % of risk, but I can't see many people getting up in the wee early hours to watch it fall, then see it mostly gone by the morning?

GFS still says North of us, then gone:

Looking out onto my car and nearby walls it would appear that there has been a brief spell of what can only be described as snow pellets.

I thought that was frost, but you're right!

I'm feeling very 'glass half full' about this.

If it doesn't snow again then at least I got one good snow day and I look forward to my favourite summer season with BBQs, warmth and smiles and then if it does snow again, that's always a bonus.
