Oh dear, I know I am deaf now, but perhaps I was deafer than I realised as a child! Whole new generation in Southend saying "vein lights"!

It is still raining, but I think it is quite mild at 7.8c

CD

Vein lights is cool! Its one of those cute things where you mistake words for something else. Some of my 'own versions' of song lyrics are legendary where I mistake some words for something COMPLETELY different lol

LOL! I'd have to ask my other half.. He has a long list of them he takes the pee out of me for. I still only know my own versions to the songs and refuse to believe the proper words as mine are much better :) I'll ask him later and share my awesome lyrics haha

Nothing at all yet for the winds that are due to arrive this afternoon and overnight. I know it's not a monster now, but I'm still expecting to feel some effects on the coast down here.

It's a rather bright afternoon, the rain has cleared away and I can actually see clear blue sky, yay! I'm not sure what blustery stuff we'll get later, but hopefully you'll hang onto your smalls, Coast!

A little tune to brighten up this dreary day......Beach Boys anyone?

Well South East girls are hip

I really dig their charming flair

And the Essex girls with the way they tan

Who needs the sun when you're down there?

The Kentish gardens daughters make the rain seem warm and light

And the Sussex girls are all snow obsessed

They watch the lampposts late at night

I wish they all could be South and Eastern

I wish they all could be South and Eastern

I wish they all could be South and Eastern girls

The South East coast has sunshine

But they'd trade it all for snow

If you threw in a blizzard, just for a laugh

The South and Eastern girls would glow.

I've been all round the UK

And I've seen all kinds of girls

But there's never a place,

Who thinks an inch is just ace,

Like the South and Eastern belles

I wish they all could be South and Eastern

I wish they all could be South and Eastern

I wish they all could be South and Eastern girls

im loving this!

oh by the way afternoon everyone :)

Just wondering what are the strongest gusts you think the south coast might except later??

Could be 45mph? Nothing too bad, but you may want to keep en eye on the buoy data here:

http://www.ndbc.noaa...d_Kingdom.shtml

Greenwich Lightship currently reporting 22 kts , with peaks earlier of 29 kts:

post-6667-0-10124100-1359730893_thumb.pn

1 knot (kt) = 1.1508 mph

Even the met office out look says below average in the mid term and uncertain but probably colder in the long term

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics

General perception from many is that April was a cold month, but statistics would suggest otherwise, with the average temperature for the whole month coming in just above the 30 year average for the UK as a whole.
