Morning all

just seen this, which sounds promising for the next week

courtesy of Met Office

Current alert level: Level 2 - Alert and Readiness

Issued at: 0842 on Sat 2 Feb 2013

There is a 70% probability of icy conditions/ snow between 0000 on Tuesday and 0800 on Wednesday in parts of England. This weather could increase the health risks to vulnerable patients and disrupt the delivery of services. Please refer to the national Cold Weather Plan and your Trust's emergency plan for appropriate preventive action.

Temperatures will drop across England from Monday onwards as a result of a cold, very windy northwesterly flow setting in. Wintry showers on Monday will be followed by an awkward mix of rain, sleet and snow around midweek, this likely to be followed by further wintry showers in the very cold arctic northerly flow. However, the primary concern at first is for temperatures and a significant wind chill, and there is now an increased probability of mean temperatures of 2 Celsius or less occurring in many areas of England from Tuesday onwards.

An update will be issued when the alert level changes in any region. Alerts are issued once a day by 0900 if required and are not subject to amendment in between standard issue times. Note that the details of the forecast weather are valid at the time of issue but may change over the period that an alert remains in force. These details will not be updated here unless the alert level also changes

Just had a sharp shower of sleet/wet snow!good.gif

Was it an awkward mix, Pete? Or do we have to wait for midweek for that!

'Eclectic' is a much more pretentious word. But, can snow ever be eclectic?

Good Morning, peoples!

Went to work at 4:50 this morning, 3c and a blustery breeze, but only light cloud and the moon was visible. Left work at 9:15, beautiful sunny morning, cloudier than earlier, breeze has picked up and the temperature had fallen to 2c. Just hung some washing out, feels darn colder than that with wind chill.

Cool 4 degrees, blue sky and gentle guts of about 5MPH here

Glad to hear your GUTS are being gentle, the Wash magnet appears to be pulling these showers in from the sea here, very short lived "awkward" mix of rin, sleet, snow
