You need your dewpoint at or below freezing and temp as close to freezing as possible - key thing is you dont want both rising else that is a bad sign.

right going off my kindle and will have a look on the pc its connected too :) and see what it is reading

Yeah stopped for a bit, but more too come I should think!

My biggest fear James is that we will be in the middle of these pulsating thin bands - someone could cop 15 - 20cm, Could be Lesley Johnson as long as her temp does not rise, take a look at the 3 0clock and 4 ocklock - if a given location catches the whole streamer then game over for any travelling in the morning!!!

For all those worried about what might they get.

We are only just into this and showers will be come frequent and prolonged through the early hours and be predominantly of snow even to low levels.

DP's are still falling, currently around zero for my location, and will be comfortably low enough for snow through the early hours.

Earlier showers may need some convective cooling to help with the snow at first so the heavier the better and they should be fairly heavy.

My experience of these situations (Yes I'm an old fart) tells me that showers may well merge for a time around dawn giving a period of heavy snow so accumulations are entirely possible even at low levels. Through the morning and toward mid day the showers will become less frequent, lighter and more sleety in nature except where you catch a heavy one where they will again fall as snow. The afternoon will yield rain and hail showers away from high ground as the warm sector passes through and with daytime temps a few degrees above freezing any lying snow will likely thaw so if my forecast is near the mark and we get lucky enjoy the morning fun if you can.
