Jonathan Powell will always refer the South-East as being in the firing zone for snow because he knows damn well that the civilian population is far greater with companies all begging at his feet for a sniff of his infamously sh*t weather forecasts.

Totally agree, I always sigh when they have a look at the front pages on Sky News late at night. What you have to remember though they are there to sell papers and plastering the front page with "ARCTIC BLAST" is unfortunately going to sell papers due to the weather being probably the most spoken about topic in daily life.

Shame everybody isn`t as clued up as the gurus around here hey whistling.gif

I will post something weather-ish but this was the first post I read, sorry.

Dont put your rulers away quite yet! Coutesy of the 12z ECM, a small tweak north would pay dividends. All very FI, of course.

Temp & DP still about freezing here. Which has meant the snow hasn't thawed as much as I'd thought it might I'm garden.

Well the latter stages of the ECM is interesting indeed. A decent EENE flow, uppers around -8/-10. That is streamer territory. Lets hope it verifies...

12Z coming like a cold bullet at Anglia.

There is obviously 12 hours difference but a definitive easterly flow.

Flooding and Potholes seem to be the main issues here this evening. Where the Snow has melted if you walk on the mud you almost sink into the ground, the water table must be saturated to the top.

Some pretty impressive water run off as well, and the roads are ean absolute disgrace, btw you can sue your local council if you get damage to your car from these monsters, there is one on the inside lane of the A127 Between Wickford and Rayleigh Weir that is almost the size of the inside lane and is about a foot deep, one of my friends has already smashed his wheels up on his BMW! Claim sent to the council already! Mwahaha

Off topic but to be able to claim about a pothole, it has to have been previously reported to the council...

Yes and it was 48 hours before he blew his front right tyre at 50mph! Right old Mess on the Rim

Btw I lied about the Rain in Leigh On Sea and we are having some interesting weather - Look Below

If you watch 1 timelapse watch this - Simply amazing, every 1 second of the timelapse is 30 minutes of the snowstorm

Shoves all the scientific data right up your wet bulb. Considering the WB level was nowhere near ground level, places like Barnet got 10cm.

Back to the drawing board.

Snowing here. Nothing major though

It is safe to post a link rather than a screenshot. you can safely put your sledge away for this evening (My neck of the woods especially). Pretty much zero precipitation tonight.

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics

General perception from many is that April was a cold month, but statistics would suggest otherwise, with the average temperature for the whole month coming in just above the 30 year average for the UK as a whole.
