A bit too far west here so far- a snow flurry clipped Sandhutton at 8:30am but otherwise it's been a case of seeing the Cb cells drift south to the east. There is some convection sprouting up inland resulting in relatively cloudy skies, and this may produce snow showers inland this afternoon.

Woke up to a covering this morning, which quickly melted as the sun came out around 9am, then around 10.30am had a beast of a shower with large 50p flakes that covered everywhere again. That thawed slightly then it started snowing again as i left for York.

Here on the East side of York its a lovely day, looking at radar more coming down at home, might nip up to the Moors later as it looks like they have had a pasting, and more to come by the radar. Just seen ECM..... BLOODY ECK!

Here on the North side of York it's cloudy now, but looking at the webcam back home, still very snowy and heavy showers continuing.

Weather warning updated as well, so many near the coast should get some more once the sun goes down.

Fun and games should begin here within the next 15/20 minutes or so, radar looks interesting today (despite settling snow being unlikely).

The best snow of the winter from the last shower really big flakes settling easily.

Much prefer these kind of snowfalls than the ones associated with sub -10 upper air, tiny flakes of snow do nothing for me.

Edit: Another MASSIVE flake snow snow shower these are awesome!!

Those dry flakes accumulated more rapidly however.

A really decent amount of heavy snow showers here today. Turned a little sleety around lunchtime but back to snow this afternoon. The showers this morning were heavy enough to leave a covering which melted each time between the showers. Nothing disruptive but lovely to see massive flakes coming down in the heavier showers.

Still forecast showers tonight too, though lighter than earlier the temp should have dropped enough for them to give another dusting.

Ruddy marvellous to see the sun in between the showers too. It actually feels quite pleasant and warm when you're in the sunlight. Any laying snow didn't stand a chance!

Here's a pic from one of the heavy showers this morning after the nights snowfall had melted there was no snow on the ground at all 10 mins before taking this.

Had a moderate to heavy snow shower in Sandhutton an hour ago, which saw a fall from 4.5C to 1.3C, and towards the end of the shower there was a dusting of snow on the ground, though it has now melted.

It's really the convective cloudscapes and the dramatic fluctuations in weather, temperature and visibility that interest/excite me more than anything else during these spring northerlies so the lack of a lasting snow cover isn't bothering me too much.

Spent the afternoon in Dalby Forest, around 10-15cm there after a good 24 hours of hefty snow showers. Really quite stunning up there! Only a few cm back home which has mostly thawed now with just a patchy covering left. Back in York now and there's been a some big hail showers as even parts of the roads were covered coming inot town. A fascinating day for a weather fanatic :D

Brief max today of 3.c, around 0.c/-1.c under the showers.

Currently clear skies with shower clouds in the distance, dusting remains from earlier current temp 0.c

Our lass will be pleased. She works at GoApe In Dalby! Always good up there. They have to climb the wires to open the course. Not nice climbing the zip wires when there's a few cm's of snow falling on your face from the wire!

Came back through a very heavy snow shower around Yeadon / Horsforth about an hour ago.

Light snow shower here now. Slight covering here. Must have been that beefy shower before.

Temp 0.9c.

Edit: Heavy snow shower here now filling in the cracks biggrin.png

Had a couple of showers between 2100 and 2200 which covered over the gaps from todays thaw, but from 2235 and continuing now a really heavy shower which has easily added an inch and still going. Not sure we'll get much more after this one.
