Warnings out for large parts of Scotland for Saturday. Mostly a high ground event but not without potential interest lower down.

http://www.metoffice...nings/#?tab=map

"An area of rain, with snow on high ground, will push up into Southern Scotland and Northern England in the early hours of Saturday morning. On ground above 200-300m, 2-5cm is likely quite widely and 10cm is possible in some areas. Some wet snow may well fall to low levels with accumulations of 2-4cm in places.

Drier brighter weather will spread from the east during Saturday with lying snow on the roads then tending to melt in the sunshine."

There are certainly some cracking charts around, pretty good for the time of year. I'm not sure that everyone will see snow in any great quantity but you never know. I'm feeling quite excited at the prospects for the next week from a selfish IMBY point of view, hopefully my moderate altitude will be a benefit, if not then I give up on snow for the season!

Jaw dropping ECM this evening. Nothing remotely spring like at all whatsoever !

Upper Temps from 96 hrs out right through until 192 - frigid, that cold pool over Scandi is something to behold as a portion of it advects west.

Chance of the spectacular still remains as this Winter refuses to let go..

Met warnings updated with pretty much all of Scotland covered including areas like Edinburgh which weren't earlier. Mostly high ground but more of a hint of possible wet accumulations at lower levels.

-10C uppers from here:

ECM0-96.GIF?15-0

through to here:

ECM0-240.GIF?15-0

That's six days where anything falling out of the sky will be snow with easterly winds in place throughout. Some incredible snowfall amounts possible with that setup, similar to the March '79 blizzard though in this instance colder and lasting for six days.

Synoptically, it's on a par, if not even better than November 2010, and if we remember that five days ago we had -14C uppers over us it's just a staggeringly cold spell for March.

I'll apologise for being a virtual t**t too, was wondering how he was going to get a bus under his car and why that would help - then I came up with a cunning plan

Reached 7C here today which I think is the mildest for a while. Just a couple of showers earlier on. Currently clear with falling temperatures. 2C.

Tuesday onwards looks very interesting. ( earlier than that for some!).
