Snowing here quite heavily, it's the wind that's really noteworthy though, gale force E'ly. Temp 0C

Right - one for the whingers and moaners. GFS 6z for this morning,

post-5986-0-40880900-1362997650_thumb.gi

Pretty uninspiring stuff for the SE. And, now, let's look at later,

post-5986-0-18566300-1362997213_thumb.gipost-5986-0-29259700-1362997232_thumb.gipost-5986-0-95179500-1362997228_thumb.gipost-5986-0-43675000-1362997247_thumb.gi

NOW, then situation as described all day yesterday, and today, is pretty much what these charts show. For sure, there's been some talk of the northerly extent of the low, later, but you have to remember that this is a gridded system which means for a spot point you are looking at the average precipitation for about 100km2

Unfortunately, the dertitus of moaning, whining, and whinging makes picking up these forecasts from the more expert members of this board nigh on impossible.

Just to make it absolutely clear for the SE corner. We are still in the first 20% of at least a very rare 48 hour March cold spell.

Enjoy!

EDIT - oops wrong chart!

Some big winds out there at the moment and likely to be getting up around 50mph+ in the Channel later:

Sea temp is only 5.5°C so not hindering any precip obviously:

The hills to my North are covered with snow, the hills to my East and South are not! Pretty localised around here.

Had a very heavy snow shower here a while ago but it didn't seem to settle!

Yes amazingly as Kentspur just said, the main shower train looks like it is London Bound, could be in the dry slot here in SE Essex, the main frontal band to the south is starting to pivot on its North Eastern Side which could become interesting this afternoon along the Thames Estuary and North Kent though for those missing out now!

Hi Paul,

Cloudscape from Anerley has that Thames Estuary snow shower look about it now, some nice grey/white tops.

Beefy fella just appearing from behind Shooters Hill, some 10 miles or so to my NE.

Tom.

Bloody dry slot...typical!

As Paul says though, hopefully the low will swing up more NE a bit later, and pep up the activity for those missing out currently.

Ideally the low will reach the S N.Sea then decide to take a sharp turn North, sit there for 24 hours then head back SW. If only.

I'm now sat between the frontal snow and the streamer snow! Unbelievable, this winter has been shockingly poor for some in this region

2" in Colchester?

WTF?!

It's hard as it's being blown about so much half the roof is clear the other half has 6ins lol.the road goes White then melts goes White then melts.depending of type of snow and gusts etc.sun popping out now.

If someone can help me.....where is my snow coming from ?that huge lump in the channel or streamers from the n sea.

I am getting a bit confused as I would say I am to far north to catch the channel stuff?

What direction is that travelling in at present?is it going south?thanks Sam x
