Looks to me they havent a clue, radar showing all rain so far

It was never forecasted to be anything other than "all rain" at the moment.

It has some good credentials and is a hi-res model, now closer to any potential, so it could be right.....

Not with the 0c 850 line 150 miles to our north.

Those cross hatched snow charts are never much use.

The precipitation is hitting against another air mass where the black line is located. Could this be where the snow line will be later tonight/tomorrow morning?

RAMP ALERT:

Stonking upgrade for our region on 12Z GFS run. potentially, 2-5cms widely for central/western and northern parts early tomorrow morning. about 3-5mms of rain then in the late afternoon/evening, BEFORE A STONKING 21CMS OF SNOWFALL FOR CAMBS, FOR EXAMPLE. Bearing in mind that the ground will be wet, take a couple off that I would say, but even so, that would be immense.

Look at the snow/rain/snow totals by +51hours:

0C isotherm is over Hampshire.

Yes, but it moves further north during Friday.

I will eat my own yellow snow if anywhere south of St Albans sees snow falling and lying before late Friday/Early Saturday Morning.

After a slight 20-30 mile shift North-East...It pivots around London before dropping back south after the last image above.

Latest ECM.... the furthest North it goes is...

Ok, maybe a bit further south than I first though.

I still stand by what I say though, no snow south of St Albans sort of area before Friday Evening/Sat Morning.

We shall soon see.

Trust me..............I am praying for continued upgrades! Where is Steve Murr!!!!

I will await the ECM this evening before I post updated thoughts, but it's pretty much as you were really, the NAE is not a downgrade, it's pretty much the same at the 6z, it just takes a little longer for the heaviest precip to arrive.

GFS throws in a slight curveball by keeping the rain/snow boundary further south for longer tomorrow. At present just the expectation of some light snow for E Anglia tomorrow morning, but the ECM and GFS had good continuity this morning, so it will be interesting to see if they are harmonised this evening too with this idea (ECM held the 0c dew point line further south than GFS this morning)

Meanwhile, Sat night/Sundays precip moving in from the south east has disappeared on the last 2 GFS runs, so less concern (or joy) there.

So confusing in here, east anglia should be combined with the midlands thread IMO, it's more midlands than SE, I keep getting excited then realise people are talking about midland events!

Dew points are fine from London Northward.

2M temperatures

A smidgen too high perhaps but not impossible at all.

Upper atmospheric temps are very borderline for North London at 0, wet further South at +1/+4
