Well what a load of crap! CC, I do get annoyed with your pessimism sometimes, but to be honest you are more often than not right, and today was a case in point! Disappointed doesn't cover it.

Intense echos along that squall line north of London and into Essex. I wonder if there will be any reports of large hail?

can see its quite dark to the N-West of here (central Essex) - looks like the squall line should hit us in the next 30 mins or so

Heard a couple of rumbles, lights just flickered a bit, located just south west of Ipswich. Moderate to heavy rain, might go and drive down road to check it out

There's a definite squall line developing and intensifying as it moves SE towards East Anglia.

Heading north east surely ??

Anyways, that squall line has just passed more or less overhead here in north west London delivering some pretty intense rainfall and gusty winds for 15-20 minutes or so. No lightning observed but quite impressive all the same.

Has passed over me now - dark to the east and especially south Chelmsford way. But has stopped raining here, big patches of blue sky appearing. All over pretty quickly.

I think it could intensify maybe turn more thundery?

Had the bottom edge of the line was very heavy here in Stanwell, large convective rain drops. sunny breaks now.

Looking interesting next week, if anyone that has viewed the Met Office Fax charts would know that the SE could get the edge of plume, the 564 dam line just scrapping up towards SE(Kent most likely storms), perhaps the thunderstorms arriving at dark, there is a triple point system shown on the charts, things could get very interesting!

Had some good claps of thunder earlier on in South Lincolnshire. All moved through quite quickly though.

Wish I was in the home counties now though, looks so intense there!

Heard a couple a rumbles of thunder today in Syston, Leicestershire. Some heavy rain...about it. As for home apparently it was just rain.

It's not of USA storm quality but you take what you can get over here! Torrential heavy rain covering the roads with some hail thrown in as I went to my viewing spot, a CG greeted me as I parked up, and I waited for this one. Screen grab from small Sony stills camera. Pleased to have caught it! Battery failed soon after Posted Image however storm moved quickly away and rumbled down to not much. Some mamma and a wide rainbow in the distance followed.

Heres a timelapse from the cells crossing Birmingham (12.00-3.00pm).....a good bit of building and a little rotation with the second cell

While the first was the the one which gave lightning in Atherstone.

Both went on to bigger and better things out East.....for a changePosted Image

There's a line of instability across Northern northern England that stretches SW across the Irish Sea. May see some intense rainfall here within the next hour.
