Just a few cumulus clouds around now, hard to believe the atmosphere up there is ripe for storms. Can still hear distant sferics every 10-20 seconds on AM radio, would be interested to know where from.

A lot of showers in the west, with new cells going up but very little lightning activity. Hoping the sun out here will allow some warmth to develop and help big storms erupt in the next couple of hours.

If you could tell me what settings to put my radio on, maybe I could help you?

Intensity of the storm has decreased but I expect all showers to develop as the move east!

I just use LW 252 (Irish Radio 1). I am thinking I could be picking up sferics from the North Sea. Having said that, sferics now just near Witney, Oxfordshire. Cell NE of Hereford could light up soon also, it has that look about it.

Sprites, i think this may be what i am picking up as sferics every few seconds now. Hopefully similar conditions here in the next 2 hours.

Looks like ground hog day at Edgebaston, the distance has gone missing. Shower blasted through here, heavyish rain but nothing to drastic. Sun out again.

Was watching cricket, same cell as I had I think, I was on northern edge, was squally for 5 minutes, dont think it got as far north as Stoke, or maybe even Stone

supercell, LW 252, amazing Feb 2000 to 21Dec 2001, but now? no

Just going to mention sferics near Swindon; hope Midlands eastwards gets some good action.

Very windy here, more than I was anticipating (says she, retrieving one of the umbrellas from across the garden and rescuing 2 obelisks with traumatised clematis after passage of umbrella....) Plenty of warm sunshine though, bit of a bonus! Don't think I need to make tracks until after 2pm?

Ha ha, definitely no good for entertainment value but good at detecting sferics :)

Skies have turned really threatening here, and the wind has really picked up in strength.Just had a splattering of really large raindrops which has turned into a hefty shower, but no thunder as yet.

Single sferic in the rain band i was talking about near to Atherstone. I am currently sat between Grantham and Bourne. Will stay here for a bit to see how the band to my west develops.

Super sonic mega downpour here.

Nothing thundery but the intensity of the rainfall was insane. Instant surface flooding everywhere.

Brilliant to watch, not so brilliant to drive in. More please.

Bristol area east towards central southern england looks best at the mo. Watching that cell over Central and S wales, looks like a massive clump. Need to keep an eye on it.
