Was 26c until 3pm then wind died down and temp 29c still as out there.... Making chili and tacos..... Prosecco now open lovely....

Hungry now lol...nice combo that. Spice it up? get the juices flowing :)Car thermo peaked at 28.5C, shade reading - whilst it's presently very warm if not hot, currently the week end and into early next week may well see the peak in terms of temps, 36C in the SE would definitely raise a few eyebrows..maybe even a smidge over? Convective banter should also increase accordingly! A lot of pent up energy up there :) Edited by triple_x1

30.4c is our max today. Degree higher tomorrow? Next week looks insane. I'm actually going to be on the welsh coast camping from Tuesday. Could be a prime spot for some

Of the first storms should they happen. A few models hinting at more Azores ridging tonight though - UKMO, GEM, NAVGEM

Nobody could argue with me that this isn't the best part of the day? Sun is still out to keep you comfortable warm in T-shirt and Shorts but is no longer burning hot so it's uncomfortable. Few beers and a bit of food in the garden is fantastic, the hours of sweat are worth this.

29.4c ended up being my max today, hopefully that all-important extra 0.6c will be achieved tomorrow :)

Quite concerned this evening about the charts and the heat. I'm living with my soon to be 80 year grandmother and she's struggling this week and specifically today very badly. Normally she's a warrior, but shes got a cold at the moment (oh the irony) and her breathing is struggling after 60+ years of smoking 20 a day. Heat is fine, but a few days of rain or something cooler now. Sure people can say 'if this was winter the winter lovers would want -30 instead of -25' but it's a lot harder to cool an immobile physically exhausted elderly person than it is to warm them up.

precisely, its gonna be horrendous, my nan 88, but her house cool (bungalow) so no stairs, always find upstairs warmer, way easier to warm up, put winter woolies on etc/heating up, everything advantage about winter

WINTER RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless there is snow, winter sucks. I can do so much more right now, it's easier to socialise, enjoy and do activities I might not be able to do in winter. In winter everyone is miserable, and everyone becomes too lazy because they are stuck indoors. Last winter just dragged on and on. Those who like winter over summer are more likely to be the unsociable ones IMO.

? other way round with me, not that i ever stay indoors, but feel so much lazier in this weather, winter i just wanna be on the move, feel happier/better, and also moving around warms you up

I like Summer just as much as I do winter, but my point remains. It's far easier to make someone warm up than it is cool down and for those reasons, I want this heat to layoff for a few days. You can do just as much in this weather as you could 22c which is a very pleasant temperature, I'm not sure why any human would physically want it to be 34c+, virtually everything you do becomes an effort, even sitting down in your house at 11pm becomes awful. It doesn't need to be hotter than this and it being hotter than this certainly wouldn't be 'fantastic' for most people in this country, specfically an ageing population which is where my current worry lies.

22-23c, enough for a BBQ, enough to socialise and enough to keep people's spirits up. So the arguement of hotter and hotter weather just stands on no legs as far as I'm concerned.

Gorgeous day again today, maxed out at 26.4c, freshening Cheshire Gap breeze again this eve, now 17.7c.

Could next week finally break the no proper storms for 5 years curse?? not going to get my hopes up to much yet but certainly some promise, in the meantime glorious tomorrow and Friday but weekend dependent on what time the North Sea muck burns off as it seems it will extend all the way to Wales.

Well I expect temperatures East of Birmingham today in the W Midlands region to be about the same as Wednesday. However, West of Birmingham we could go 1 or 2c higher I think. If we reached 30c on Wednesday im going for at least 31c here today! However my only concern is possibly even more afternoon cloud than Wednesday.

Pretty cool compared to the past nights. Still a bit too warm for comfort but it doesn't feel as uncomfortable as the other nights.

16.1C here.

Still 18c here so seemingly a good bit warmer than most here it seems!

Temperatures appear to be edging up here little by little as the days go by (where are the classic thunderstorms?), two days ago it was 13oC when I got up at around 7.30 am, yesterday it was 15oC, today 16oC. Having said that, we get a nice breeze going here at night and this morning I opened all the doors/windows and managed to cool the house down to a respectable 20.9oC. Because we don't have sun on the house till after midday, we are reasonably cool in the mornings, but by late afternoon it's getting rather too hot for me, thankfully the rear of the house is cooler as it's backed into the Malvern Hills. Glorious weather but I agree it's hard on the elderly. However I come from Australia originally where we frequently endured summers with heatwaves at the 38-40oC mark (without aircon) and that really was hard going.

Yes that's very true. The new feature one the Monkspath weather station website proves your point - a summary of the current temperature readings from all surrounding weather stations in the area. It currently shows variations between 26c and 31c for our region.Bish

You also need be aware of dodgy weather stations and siting meaning they are almost certainly ott.

Nowhere officially topped 30c for the Midlands this spell, reckon today's the day, 27c here in West Wales.

Definitely on course for the hottest day here, the temperature's really on a mission after a low of 12.8c it's already 25.5c now!

I couldn't agree more, Some of them are way off either because of cheap stations or location like situating it on a patio where heat is ott, But even on Meteoceil the temp observations

was showing on the south coast 31c at 8:30 this morning so there are ones that are way off even on more so called credible sites, but going back to the monkspath weather station

temp observations it just gives a general idea of whats going on with temps around the midlands, But yes ignore the ones that are way off.

Tony you mentioned "Nowhere officially topped 30c for the Midlands this spell" Coventry airport did last saturday topped out at 31c.
