Just gotta hope that one of these cells to the SW of me gets electrified! Chesterfield and surrounding area does seem to be abit of a hotspot for activity at the moment!

Nothing but heavy rain today here. Some great cloud structures, so so far, alas, no thunderyness.

Why does the channel keep killing off the storms????

The seas is way too cold at this time of year (in relation to the air temp) so i presume it's killing of the convective feed. On the plus side in the autumn it has the opposite effect.

Lincolnshire always steals the limelight, even when it wasn't meant to get much if anything.

Why does the channel keep killing off the storms????

It's very odd, surface water temps are about normal now I believe, maybe even above normal, so can't be the cold causing it.

Wow well that was fun. Had 2 cells go passed, one to my south and one to my west. The one to my west passed about 1 mile away giving heavy rain, gusty winds and 3 or 4 rumbles of thunder. The one to my south passed under half a mile away and gave some rumbles and a close crack. Had thunder from both cells at once at one point. More to come I feel.

Storms all around me, and not a shower of rain. That's my day in a nutshell. Had a close one earlier just a few miles away at around 2:30pm and since then been hearing thunder all day every few minutes or less. What is it going to take for me to get an overhead storm.

Beautiful convection today though. Few shots on camera which I will get up when I get a cable/sd card sorted for my camera.

Convection has been building steadily here all day, and a storm has just skirted to the north of me in the last 15 minutes.  Four rumbles of thunder heard (and is still doing so as the storm moves ever further away), no lightning seen and a very brief but heavy shower of very large raindrops.

Intercepted sharp shower, few deep rumbles SW Cannock, seemed to develop as it scurried north..next stop Stafford then Stoke area. Looks a good un! Classic anvil status now, some great looking convection knocking about right now, quite blustery - also temps like a yo-yo? one minute it felt warm then quite brisk the next, 23C tops today.
