If you do a postcode zoom on the radar, the main action is skirting West of you unfortunately.

it is currently, but worth keeping an eye on what develops over Normandy....anything developing in this area will be making a beeline for devon....a question of waiting and seeing.....

want a laugh?.....this is what the NMM06z said for 9am ppn spread

more storms developing over the french coast and the channel islands, these are heading for south devon....Brixham's the place to be today!

I'm in Brixham and the weathers impressive. Not a regular user of the forums, but the weather been so impressive since 5:30 am had to look for more detail of what's happening.

Spectacular couple of hours of lightning early this morning, with torrential rain. Eased off a bit but now the rains back. Being a coastal town the lightning still illuminates when it's miles off coast, but this morning was exceptional. It was impossible to sleep, it was like a stobe light outside. Seemed to go on fo ever & ever.

Hear there's been a bit of flooding in town, which includes the local fire station.

Most ammusing thing is thats there's been hundreds of swallows (maybe house martins) migrating past our house this morning on the way to africa(?). Bet they're laughing at us.

Do stick around, this place can get very lively when the snow is falling or storms are a-brewing. Posted Image  The hirundines were doing just that over my estate a couple of days back, when the depression's fronts were no far from my patch. They were seemingly stocking up on flies ahead of the rains, before their EPIC journey south. As many as 50,000 have been seen in the right locations in the past week.

Positively tropical feeling evening, still 90% humidity and a balmy SE breeze.

So it rained for 9 hours the weatherman said it was a shower some bloody shower

What was your final rain total from those 9 hours Barry?

Looks like your area could get another round tonight judging by the radar at present.

I am not a massive fan of rain, but there is a truly huge amount of it coming down right now. Wish I had a sophisticated station that could tell how much!!

to give an idea of how much rain has fallen so far (baring in mind, there's more to come) here's the radar rainfall accumulations since 2100hrs last night centered on my home town of Brixham. (again, bare in mind that rain only started falling around 0300hrs this morning)

remarkable accumulations of between 60 & 100mm of rain, truly astonishing!
