Morning all,

No fog here either...and I've got that Friday feeling, well it's more of a Chringlemas shopping feeling actually - someone's got to do it...wish me luck, I may be gone for sometime Posted Image

Happy POETS day everyone - stay warm and safe !

Good Morning all,

No fog this morning, but quite misty.  Am hoping the sun will burn through the cloud - well, until any rain arrives this afternoon Posted Image

On the plus side, it's nearly the weekend! Posted Image Posted Image

I was being tongue in cheek in terms of the banter on this thread each winter about Croydon council and the grittingPosted Image

Its a pleasant enough start to the day - however the weekend is not looking like one to savour at all in any way. At least it will be mildPosted Image

Interesting thoughts over the next couple of days if the GFS free atmosphere is on the tale of something.  An ickle bit of convection around but I'm not sure it's enough to kick off away from Southerly coasts:

Afternoon each. Well, hope everyone ok. It's all a bit grim here so forgive my laxity in visiting the site. I keep thinking 'This too shall pass' and I guess it will for me and mine.

The weather in Ippy is very dull and it was very foggy this morning. But it's not really that cold. But......according to the papers, it seems we are in for a bad old winter. Do you think there is any truth in that...or is it hysteria again. :-)

Take care, all.

The high res model  shows the CAPE and Lifted Index values for later on Saturday.

it looks like  anywhere could catch some heavy and possibly thundery downpours over the weekend but showers will be very hit and miss,  there is the potential for some stronger plumes of more widespread heavy showers and longer spells of heavy rain, some of which may be thundery, spreading up from the south.

No it's all the normal rubbish Grace ...the day after there being a "horror" winter ahead with "record breaking" snowfall and cold in November they changed it to it will rain until Christmas....

I don't like what it shows personally, but that chart reflects exactly what you suggest. Sunday much the same, and also towards the middle of next week.

Red moon tonight ....

It is worth staying up late tonight because the only penumbral lunar eclipse of the year is set to reach its peak just before midnight.

The phenomenon is caused when a full moon passes through the outer edges of the Earth's shadow.

It will only be a partial one but it is expected to create a colourful sky for a few hours, with a slightly red dimming of a normally bright moon.

The eclipse is expected to begin at 10:50pm and last until after midnight.

Visibility will be patchy throughout with London, the Midlands and Yorkshire getting the clearest views in the UK.

Afternoon all

Bet you missed me? no? oh ok then :p

Anyway just back from a 4 day short notice trip to Weymouth :) and it stayed warm and sunny for all but one morning of it (even managed to top up the tan, not back for October), will try and put up a few pics later (took hundreds so plenty to choose from), so how have we all been this week?

Kinda, saw some but they havemoved the main part of it to Lodmoor Country Park, only realised that *after* we had walked to the end of the beach toeards Preston and back again to where it used to be near the Quay and there is a smaller "preview" version (Sci-fi theme this year).
