Same here but I think at a push they may be Altocumulus, definitely not Mammatus.

Morning all. :)

Agreed. Definitely have the altocumulus look. I'd say a mixture of the cirrus / cirrostratus and cirro/altocumulus, which the sun can backlight, can make for the perfect sunrise/ sunset pictures.

I generally associate mammatus with convective, rather than the frontal rainfall, due today.

A sheet of cirrostratus here and the day won't get better. :( Looking forward to a half decent day here tomorrow now - some sunshine and mild / warmish. :)

Morning Steve.

I think Mammatus are pretty rare anyway, I've only ever seen it maybe half a dozen times and one of those was only because Paul Sherman pointed it out to me in a howling gale.

Oh well, it's bound to rain today ....I'm getting my hair done later and we all know my hair appointments should come with a severe weather warning Posted Image

Have a nice day anyway.....it will soon be Christmas Posted Image

A millennium away and as isolated as you could get, but this lonely red symbol intrigues me next Tuesday:

Re the footie last night, I find it rather sad that there were more Polish supporters in the ground than English. Im not racist at all, but I suppose they did build it Posted Image

Foggy here in Egham but with light rain falling for the last hour or so. Bit earlier than I expected so maybe it will clear through a bit quicker too.

Hi there SE gang, hope you are all well with blessings.

Just to inform you that Croydon Council are prepared with full salt stocks with gritters primed and ready. An emergency meeting with the councils emergency planning team is being co-ordinated to discuss potential severe/adverse conditions.

Hello Yammers (Winter must be nearing).

Can you just confirm for people in the thread, that the meeting you draw reference to, happens every year around this time and is just a contingency/stocking thing and not related to an perceived immediate threat of snowy, cold or even slightly colder weather?

I think it's important the members are aware of the general circumstances of this and don't read into it any imminent inclement weather, as nobody wants to start a ramping riot just yet eh?

Hi Coast, This emergency meeting is a lot different to the other years.

You mean they are not expecting any significant change in weather imminently and/or they have less money to spend and have to be careful over this Winter what they spread?

I just don't think people should be reading anything into what could be just another planning meeting about budgets and staffing etc etc just yet. Unless you can give us more precise details that say otherwise? Posted Image

should I be investing in beans and shotgun cartridges?

Are you going hunting teenagers then?
