Had a good thunderstorm about an hour or two ago with some close flashes and big booms. That's the second this month.

I don't recall October ever being this stormy before.

Pretty frequent over here GS 6-8 strikes per/min, looking out to sea.. Easyjet Airbus 319 having a rather difficult time trying to land at Newcastle International airport.

Some lightning flashes and a couple of distant rumbles to the south of here, which was rather unexpected- so the 2nd thunder-day of the month although the first one was far more impressive than today as there was a direct hit on that occasion.

Had quite a beefy shower here around 5pmish, certainly came out from the blue and the sky went dark for a while followed by just the one lightning flash I saw looking out towards Rushup Edge, not sure if it was convective or trough-related given the PC was playing up at the time but certainly a nice surprise to round up what otherwise was a pleasent day in the sunshine.

Storm shield partly failed allowing a shower to trundle over the north of the city but shredded the remains pretty well in the south Sheffield. No lightning though observed.

So the lack of storms proper continues.

Nice footage, as you said the thunder was almost constant.

Interestingly this same storm tracked all the way from the west coast of Wales all the way to the NE coast of England, clearly driven by some decent wind shear. Possibly also producing a tornado around my old home region of Halifax.

Indeed, Skywarn and Estofex showing potential for a line of storms (or rather two lines) overnight tonight with the risk of convective gusts up to 55mph and a tornado risk.
