Some lovely sun up in the Pennines today, and found enough snow to spend 2 hours sledging with the kids!

BBC weather showing some big temperature differences in the ranges for Darlo from Sunday to the 26th on the 26th the temperature in Darlo could be anywhere from 4c to 15c if we did get near 15c on the 26th it would feel very spring like in any sunshine

Lots of snowdrops and crocuses in flower around Darlo now significantly earlier than last year, haven't saw any daffs in flower yet but loads are up out the ground now another 2 to 3 weeks and some should be in flower

Certainly a hint of spring this morning, fellt very nice in the sun, shame about the afternoon!

Tomorrow looks like it will be milder than today for many of us so another early taste of spring though wind and rain sweeps across the region on Thursday though it will remain mild with temperatures widely 9c to 10c

Lovely start here in Darlo not a cloud in the sky and no wind it would be nice if this sunshine could last longer than mid morning

Early snow warning out for parts of the region for the final day of winter on Friday

Issued at: 1337 on Wed 26 Feb 2014

Valid from: 0005 on Fri 28 Feb 2014

Valid to: 1200 on Fri 28 Feb 2014

Rain will turn to snow for a time, mainly over the high ground during Friday morning. Over low ground it is unlikely that any snow will accumulate but many areas may see falling snow and slushy deposits for a time. The public are advised to be aware of the potential for some disruption to travel especially during Friday morning rush hour.

Chief Forecaster's assessment

An area of low pressure is expected to move eastwards on Friday. There is considerable uncertainty in its track and therefore on the risk and location of any snow. This warning will be kept under review and the public are advised to keep up to date with the forecast and warnings.

Areas under the warning

Darlington, Durham, Northumberland

At least we will probably wake up to a decent frost on the last day of this miserable excuse

for a winter.

Maybe Spring will deliver more snow than Winter?

Gosh a rare starry evening. Should manage a ground frost tonight at least and the last night of the winter tomorrow looks like delivering one of our coldest nights of the winter - given how few nights have been 0 degrees or below.

A clam sunny day for most of the region today as we say good bye to "winter"

Even managed a frost on the final day a rare occurrence over the past 12 weeks

Hooray awoke to a nice white scene this morning with everything coated frosty white and blue skies - a very rare event this winter. Today has been lovely with lots of blue sky sunshine and importantly light winds, with the sun getting a little bit of kick to it, it felt quite springlike.

Temperatures are tumbling now and another air frost looks likely but pesky cloud and showers tomorrow morning will probably mean limited blue skies to greet us.

The fells looked wonderful this morning etched white against a deep blue - how I have longed for such mornings all winter...

Roll on spring.
