Seem a tortoiseshell butterfly this morning, air temperatures are still low at 6C, but with little wind the sun feels warm.

After a sunny start in the NE cloud has rolled in this is currently giving some drizzle in places now and then before the main band of rain arrives later this afternoon or early evening this will clear over night and tomorrow should be another glorious spring day with lots of sunshine light winds and temperatures around 7c to 9c

Couldn't help noticing the similarity to our Storm coming up 2 years ago this summer

Wouldn't mind some thunderstorms to make up for the shocking winter we've had in terms of excitement... A blend of the best bits Summer 12 and 13 would be awesome!

All far too early i have bud break on the apple and pear trees. This is not right for the time of year and I fear the worst come the back end of the month.

After a cloudy start blue sky is rapidly moving in from the west here in Darlo so sunshine is imminent

A lovely spell of weather coming up for Darlo with temperatures above normal we'll see the first signs of this, this afternoon once the cloud lifts temperatures will shoot up to around 12c

Then we have;

13c Sunday - sunny on the morning then clouding over in the afternoon

9c Monday - sunny all day

9c Tuesday - maybe misty at first but becoming sunny quickly

11c Wednesday - maybe misty at first but becoming sunny quickly

What a contrast to this time last year when we were about to see a 48 hour period when temperatures stayed at or below freezing.

It was foggy early on in Darlington that then lifted to leave clear blue sky but in the past 15 minutes cloud has rolled back in from the south

Fog warning out for parts of the region into tomorrow

Issued at: 1107 on Wed 12 Mar 2014

Valid from: 0200 on Thu 13 Mar 2014

Valid to: 1000 on Thu 13 Mar 2014

Fog patches are expected to form overnight onwards into early Thursday morning, becoming dense in places with visibility below 200 metres at times. The public should be aware of the potential for some difficult driving conditions and disruption to travel, particularly during the morning rush hour.

Chief Forecaster's assessment

Light winds and clear skies overnight and during Thursday morning will allow fog to form in places. Not everywhere in the yellow area will see fog, but where it forms it is likely to be dense at times, especially in low-lying areas. The fog will then slowly clear through the middle of the morning.

Areas under the warning

Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland, Stockton-on-Tees
