It touched 14.9 here, there's a light onshore drift now and it's dropped quite a bit already - to 11.5C

A marked difference between the NE and Cumbria today unlike recent days all thanks to a change in the position of heights allowing a light NW airflow to develop. Awoke to a murky scene with misty fog and temps struggled to get up to 5 degrees even at lunchtime. The afternoon saw a milky sky with hazy sunshine and temps maxed at just 8 degrees. A very different feeling day, indeed this morning was quite a shock, definitely one of the coldest feeling mornings of the year so far.

The next few days promise a continuation of a NW-NE split. Tomorrow looks like being a cloudy affair here with the threat of drizzle and temps struggling to get to double figures, this theme continues through the weekend before generally turning more unsettled next week with the return of windy conditions.

The NE does very well under NW airflows, unlike Cumbria. Cumbria conversely always does well under a NE airflow, known many a time the east coast has been plagued by sea fret and temps of 9/10 degrees as late as early June, and the Cumbrian coast has languished in wall to wall sunshine and temps of 24 degrees, indeed Cumbria is often one of the hotspots under a NE airstream.

The 13th was the only day we've had that could almost be considered warm, but for the time of year it's been pleasant enough were it not for the howling wind.
Classic March drying weather though.
The wind has kept overnight frosts away the last 2 or 3 nights, which is allowing grass and autumn sown crops to show signs of more serious spring growth on the drier land.

Just see my cam this morning, could it be more perfect.

After a cloudy few days the sunshine is back though a gusty wind is with it which is taking the edge of the temps

Yep it would be a glorious day if this wind would do one, gusting 30/40 mph

I know those in the south basking in temps close to 20c and a light wind, whilst were stuck with this annoying gusty wind though its not cold

Rain expected to arrive between 14:00 and 15:00 in Darlo it should be fairly short lived with it clearing around 17:00 we may even see some late afternoon sunshine

From tomorrow we should see more sunshine developing but temperatures will be lower than of late with maxes around 7c to 10c though the wind is going to make it feel colder than it actually is

cannot see us getting into double figures gav, i would say 8 degress is the max and the temp will fall during any showers we may get which could be wintry in nature

A decent chance for a light covering of snow overnight for some of the highest parts

of our region, and maybe some sleet and hail lower down.

Met-office have an ice warning out as the skies clear behind the trough/front.
