Evening all. Posted Image

A fairly non-descript weather day here; we even had some sun first thing.

I've just found this link on the online version of our local paper.

update for now

tonight

http://www.raintoday.co.uk/

Posted Image

Posted Image

rain moving from our south west moving over the region overnight

may get a tad heavy for a time

should clear around rush hour but may stick around longer the further north you are

temps

start cold but getting warmer when the rain arrives

tomorrow

Posted Image

a chilly north west to south west flow

rainfall

looks mainly dry after the morning rain clears

could stick around the north east of the region for a while

there is a trough on the fax which looks to cross us in the afternoon

so chances of some rain are there but should not last too long

Posted Image

should be dry for all as night sets in

temps

Posted Image

around 8 degrees

temps could drop quickly when night falls

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

tomorrow night

Posted Image

a weak north west flow

rain

Posted Image

Posted Image

looks dry

temps

Posted Image

a potential for a frost all areas

the east coastal may see mist and fog poss

so there the frost risk is lower

a cold night for all

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

monday

Posted Image

a weak westerly flow

rain

Posted Image

it looks dry again

however the trough on the fax may clip the far south east late pm

temps

Posted Image

around 6-7 degrees

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

monday night

Posted Image

a weak south west to north west flow

rain

Posted Image

barring the possible drizzly misty murky muck on the east coast

it looks dry again

temps

Posted Image

a frost again for most

moreso the north of the region

expect sub zero temps in a lot of local areas

also fog may rear its ugly head again as well

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

tuesday

Posted Image

a very weak south west flow

rain

Posted Image

again looks dry most of the day

rain incoming from the west tues night looks possible

temps

Posted Image

around 4-5 degrees

so Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

so all in all

looks a lot dryer

and these charts are far from warm

back later with the fax chart update

Evening all, very quiet on here today I hope everyone is ok....best wishes to JJ and Sm for speedy recoveries and anyone else who is poorly ... As you know I'm off to a sunnier climate in the early hours but I'm sure you will be well looked after in my absence...I'll try to post a few pictures from inside a volcano or of the sunshine so you can remind yourselves what it looks like Posted Image

I'll leave you with this view of who's to blame for all this wet weather....

http://www.theguardian.com/society/2014/jan/18/uk-storms-divine-retirubtion-gay-marriage-ukip

My own thoughts on this is that obviously God is only mildly hacked off about the gay marriage laws as all he did was cause a little weather blip that made a few houses wet and knocked off a couple of folk. If God had been proper angry then surely the rivers would have been blood, it would have rained frogs not 'cats and dog's, and we would have been plagued by flies, lice, locusts and covered in boils... we haven't even had the hail and thunder here !!

Ciao for now Posted Image

Ali, have a great holiday.

Nature is what nature is - gay, straight, whatever, words used by our allegedly sentient and rational species, I struggle with the notion that a benevolent god would condemn people to hell for the sake of sexuality, people who have spent their entire lives doing good but because they aren't heterosexuals are slated for eternal damnation. We'd lose a lot of good people that way.

Our daughter, nearly 13, has 3 friends round, sleepover, and it's lovely and scary to see that they are hunkering down with phones, make-up and music and are just starting out on the journey of life but are still all so young really. I've just taken them all hot chocolate to the guest room where they are watching a film and earlier they still let me sit with them and scroll through the movie choice and they wanted to have a word, didn't mind me being there. Give it a year and it may not quite be that way.

Just started raining again in Reigate.

A right miserable bunch of baskets in the model thread tonight.

Arguing the toss whether something is a discussion about model output or not.... "fantasy island" so take no notice.... whether something's a forecast or potential... how likely some output will verify .... disagreements about the unknown...

So many minutes of my life I wont get back reading such tosh...Posted Image

Need to stick with Steve Murr and JP only methinks......

i've asked this question many a time of the model thread poster's

""does the models dictate the weather or the weather dictate the models?""

still waiting on a feasible answer :D

Never seen this before. A volcano in Indonesia produces lava that looks BLUE!

Posted Image

Me neither, it must be to do with whatever elements are in the lava.

joking apart, heres the text that goes with the photo's

Courtesy Daily Mail

While the sulhpur appears bright red during the day, at night it gives off an eerie blue light with flames that can reach up to five foot in height.

The miners who rely on the sulphur for their livelihoods work in treacherous conditions at the bottom of the crater. They wear nothing other than t-shirts and trousers as they collect the yellow material, despite toxic fumes being given off and the fact that the molten sulphur is heated to more than 240F........

Photographer Olivier Grunewald, who captured some of these amazing shots, had to wear a gas mask during his expedition into the crater, and lost two lenses and a camera while trying to capture the mysterious pictures.

Very high sulphur levels will cause it. Beautiful to look at.

I can see a lot of us wondering why the warm sector always ends up over us on that chart lol.

I'm hoping the volcano I'm going to this week won't be spewing any colour of lava - especially the day I have my head down the crater lol Great photos though but the article hadn't explained exactly why it's blue at night - or am I missing something ? Nearly bed time here - just going to make the hot choccy - 5:45 am departure but hopefully will have a few hours sleep during the flight !
