Cool here too, 8.8oC currently, foggy, v light wind. Watching that rain edge closer on the radar.

Heavy rain here now and looking at what's coming up from the south http://www.raintoday.co.uk/mobile we are pretty much in for it all day!

Currently 9.0c, still the same as it was at 7 this morning.

Moderate rain and low cloud here now.

Yes it looks like a few hours of this now PM as it moves north right across the country.

Feeling quite cool too now-a big difference to yesterday when it felt good in the afternoon warm sunshine.

On the frost subject not unusual to see some sharp May frosts and at the end of next week it looks likely as wind falls light and skies clear with cold upper air still over us.

Our area and the south coast is really copping the heaviest of the rain today. Shame there is no thundery element.

Indeed frost is not unusual in May, but -4c is for the Midlands that late on, Coventry, for example the coldest May night is -5.0c in 1938:

It is more likely in rural valleys admittedly though.

Always tricky discussing temps a few days ahead Tony as you would know.

I wouldn.t punt on this one from this range but yes -4C would be unusual but the current modeling shows the conditions, dry, cold air in place, clear and calm makes this a possibility.

Any frost this late is more of a problem for plants and i will have to shelter one or two of mine which i have put out early this year.

Lulled in to a false sense of security after a virtually frost free Winter i suppose.

The sky's full of just miserable grey cloud and it's travelling quite quickly too, accompanying it is just a few specks of pathetic rain.

The radar's been great to look at during the night, however doesn't seem to want to do anything when nearby. :/

It's now brightening up nicely now after early rain.

Yesterdays rain has done the gardens good though after quite a dry month so far.

Not a single shower all day here. To add insult to injury my anemometer on the roof mast has stopped working.

Cape values seem to be better tomorrrow, so we may see more action regarding the thunder & lightning department :good:

From the Met Office for the Midlands for Sunday;

A fairly cloudy start for many, but turning brighter. Showers are likely across the region throughout the day, these may be locally heavy and persistent with a risk of thunder. Maximum Temperature 15 °C.

Right so far... A cloudy start and in looking at the radar http://www.raintoday.co.uk/mobile showers are just starting to kick off to the east of me here.

But the risk of them having thunder/lightning.... Emmm can't see it myself :p

We have had a few glimpses of the sun earlier but now mainly cloudy.

No showers yet but looking at latest radar images there are some moving into central parts from the main area of disturbances further south.

http://www.raintoday.co.uk/mobile

a good image of that low in the channel with the bands of showers spinning around the core into England/Wales.Also the fronts in the NE England and E. Scotland with more organised rain up there.
